Z22 Advanced Mechatronics

For its 15th anniversary, Technik GmbH is presenting the Z22, the lightest and most advanced mechatronic car which has ever been presented to the public. Mechatronic is the generic term for “mechanical system with electronic control” and together with lightweight construction will revolutionize automobile technology in the years to come.

In both of these key technologies the Z22 sets a new standard with its 70 innovations and 61 patent applications: “steer-by-wire” and “brake-by-wire” in the Z22 have completely replaced mechanical steering and hydraulic brakes; the electronics concept is without comparison in its efficiency and versatility. The electronic steering is speed-adjustable--less than 1 turn when parking, increasing to 3 turns above 50 mph.

An innovative horizontally divided body which separates into functional frames and cells solves the conflicting goal of comfort and that of lightweight construction by using a new carbon-fiber technology which is nearly ready for production. By having this the Z22 has a fuel consumption of only six liters per 100 km during normal running conditions.
