Thank you once again for your rapid response Paul,
The Temperature once its up to normal stays the same, so I dont think it is related to that.
Speed wise, I only notice it at low speeds really, below 30mph.
And yes, it does get louder as I turn corners.(didnt notice right or left however)

It just squeaks ,like a dry joint, I am thinking its related to the wheels turning perhaps? ..........and being the fussy person I am about my car, it really bugs me.
Any ideas?

Silly question Paul but, how do you know if a Steering rack works correctly? Am I supposed to feel something moving? shaking? judder perhaps?

VKR

Jai.

: Does the noise vary wuth speed? (road or engine)
: Does the noise vary with going round corners; different left and right?
: Does the noise vary with engine temp?

: RE your steering rack. Just because the fluid is discoloured it doesn't mean you need a new rack.
: If the rack works fine, then it is fine. If you feel worried about it, because it IS a safety issue, then get it checked.
: The fluid is often the same as auto transmission fluid. In an auto tranny, if the fluid is black, then the chances are that the tranny will be Donald Ducked. But with a steering rack? Not the same worry at all.
