It's a well written article, and I would bet that the writer knows far more than I do about petrol!

His comments about techron are interesting, and I'm suprised that he comes down so strongly in favour of a 'pour in' additive.

Apart from the essential use e.g. to make unleaded fuel suitable for use in older engines; my gut feeling about additives is to treat them all as 'snake oil'. I can't see how, if the oil industry spend Zillions on making and blending fuels, that a 'big can for a big car, small an for a small car' type treatments can really do the job.

I am sceptical, but prepared to be convinced.
Having said that - I do know that not all fuels are equal. Cars which do not get a lot of use, can tend to get 'gummed up' injectors so a clean out now and then is a good idea.

Also I will always buy optimax if I can find it. The car really does run better on it!
