Before I imported mine somebody was selling a red Z1 in Miami and called them up and asked for title and registration. Later I investigated the car and was imported as 325iC and never put through DOT AND EPA. Sure the legal way cost you more $2,500.00 just for EPA testing but in a long term it is worth it ! DOT seazed Bill Gates Porsche 959 when they found out it was illegally imported w/o testing. He has paid a great money to make it legal and to have it back ! He can do that because he is a richest men on earth but even he had to give it up and have it done in a right way.
If Guardian can access these information (looks like he can) then I suggest contact him first to make sure it is a real deal.
If I sell mine in a future (might be due to money problems) then I will post a copy of all the import papers and documents. This is what everybody should do so ask for these. There is no personal information on them, so if the person denies to show you these then he either don't have them or he/she is a crazy person.
Different subject - I talked to a local dealership and they did NOT refused to work on a car. They said as long as it is a BMW they will work on it so no problem giving a car to them. Long time ago BMW USA declined to work on a friends of mine grey market M635CSI european.
I guess they policy have been changed recently.
