In reading all the possible thing's that could be my problem I think Laszlo is
near the mark with the idle speed sensor theory.

If I had an air intake problem ie a split pipe the car would not idle well even when hot.

My theory is a temperature sensor / fuel demand problem but what do I know.

My reasoning for this is as soon as the engine has enough temperature to move the temp gauge all is well you wouldn't know there was a fault.

What ever gives the fuel system it's choke effect is faulty.

I will check all that you guys have suggested.
