yorkshire cruise 26/6/10

Thanks once again Mark for organising a fabulous day out I could,nt have wished for nicer company, thank you all for putting up with me. I thought you made an excellent repair on your bonnet,it was spot on,well done.I did 360 miles on a tank full, which is normal for my old knacker.

re the A series engine,in the late 60s i ran a 1275 CooperS,the pressure relief valve consisted of a tapered plunger being pressed on its seat by a spring about 2 ins long.A common mod was to shim the spring with a couple of washers, thus increasing oil pressure at the crank.

On the A series engine,if the pressure relief valve lifts the excess oil is dumped back into the sump.

clutch replacement

you say your clutch problem was due to the clutch plate slightly out of alignment, when you put the gearbox back in how did you manage to line the first motion shaft up with bearing in the end of the crankshaft? Iwas just curious.
