notchy steering

have a look on z4-forum.com as this is a common problem with early z4s . mine had it and was worse when the heater was on and it was hot . had the steering column and a sensor replaced by the local bmw dealer under warranty , it should have cost 1950 quid . now is great to drive ,

thanks for the comments guys , i really liked the z3 but it was only a 1.9 8v and didnt have roll hoops or wind deflector and instead of trying to retrofit we got the z4 as we both really loved them anyway , funnily enough the z4 is better on fuel even thogh its a 2.5 , both very different though . ...

not sure about the price , seems a bit steep to me . love the interior though . begining of last year when we got our 1.9 we only paid 4500 and that was at a garage same year but with a few more miles on it . you should bear in mind that the 1.9 8v is not very powerfull at all and if this doesnt bot...

well done on a good job , really satisfiying when you do a good job like this , i did mine on my old z3 but i didnt take my seats out ,just put the roof down . really pleased i did it and didnt pay the stealer to do it .

got our ticket so can you count me and the girlfriend in for this one , ferry bridge , went in the z3 last year and is a really good place to visit and some cool cars too . silver 2.5 se z4 this year so wont spoil the line of silver zeds now .

try the hand brake when driving slowly and see if it stops , my old z3 did this and took me ages to find it . had spare wheel ,tool kit out everything until i read it on here . and tried the hand brake , took 5 mins to tighten it and was fine after that .

will try to get some pics soon ,if i can get near it that is as the girlfriend has stolen it . i had a facelift 1.9 with the 8 valve engine so wanted a bit more power and some more luxurys and it didnt have roll hoops and was struggleing to get a wind deflector too ,so thought we might as well look ...

z3 has gone as of yesterday , really enjoyed owning it and was a lot of fun in the summer , but not so bad as its been replaced by a 2.5 2004 z4 which i absolutley love . we will still be attending a couple of events this year and looking forward to some good days out .

both guides were broken on mine when i got it , i got new ones from the dealer for 13 quid each and fitted them myself . was a bit fiddly and a pain but only took me an hour and half to do both and was well worth it .

hi sparky , i use something called greygate polish ,if you google it you will find it all over the place , i did my headlights with it too and they came up like new . very good and lasts a long time , i cant remmember how much it was but wasnt much ,6 or 7 quid i think .enjoy your new toy .

on mine it does not have caps on the top of the seat belt turrets and the deflector i looked at did not go near to the turret tops .. it was oval and had two posts at the bottom which go into two holes in the plastic covers either side of the storage box . would like to find one for mine but is prov...

before you buy one just check that the distance between the two posts is the same ,as i wanted one for my face lift 1.9 and i found one on ebay but when i checked the distance between the posts found they were not the same .

our first meet and was good to meet some of you although we actually spent most of the time looking around the gardens and other cars than meeting everyone , really nice place to have a meet and it wont be our last . whens the next one ?our topaz blue z3 looked a bit out of place with all those silv...

i did one of them last night . went to the bmw garage to pick them up and got home and thought i would have a look at how hard it would be . started to rummidge arond the seat and before i knew it i was half way through doing it , didnt take the seat out i just undid the plastic clips at the bottom ...

i have had a look and am sure it is a seat out job ,not too hard to do , its getting the covers off and on again that concerns me , will see if any one has done it or knows how it is done and then will see . {maybe}

hi ,im new to the forum as i have recently bought an x reg 1.9 z3 ,both seat belt guides are broken so i have ordered 2 from my local bmw dealer and will be here on wednesday . i have searched and can only find a thread about screwing them into the backing plate inside the seat , to do it properley ...
