I've had my car up for sale for a couple of weeks on Autotrader. So far I've had 8 scammers, 1 car matching agent and 0 serious enquiries. The scammers all start off with the same question. Is the car still for sale. Then it moves on to I work on an oil rig or I'm an oceanographer. As soon as they m...

The Battery area should have 2 black grommets in it. You can make a small hole in these if it has clogged up to prevent water sitting in the battery area while you fix any leaks.
Recently done mine. It was like a swimming pool in there. Third brake light was the caused. Resealled and all is good now.

Pre cat O2 sensor
Not changed one on a BMW before. Am I right in assuming that you undo these clockwise as apposed to the logical anticlockwise or am I too used to working on Japanese cars? I dug out my special O2 removal tool yesterday. Took a quick lok under the car and have located the sensor. Looks like I'm going...

Oops, I can't even blame that on a typo :) Update... Found a big split in the air intake hose that connects form the MAF to the T/B. Replaced this hose with a new one from Coopers (£18+VAT). I then cleaned the ICV and checked the idle changes when disconnecting it. Also check other hoses but found n...

2.8 or 3.0
I'm looking at maybe selling the 1.9 and getting the 2.8 or 3.0. I can't afford the Z3M otherwise would go for that. The 3.0 seems a lot rarer than the 2.8. Looking at the stats the fuel consumption is pretty similar i.e. 30.1 - 29.7 . But there is a nice reduction in 0-62 times 6.9 - 6.0 . Other th...

I think the MAF was a red herrin. There is only a little change in idle when disconnecting the MAF. I took off the air filter housing and removed / cleaned the MAF with carb cleaner. I did find that there wasa bit split in the rubber hose as it connects to the throttle bodies. I gave the butterflys ...

front bumper and rear lip
I was under the car on the weekend looking for any rattles in the exhaust. I found a nice little AC Schnitzer stamp on the rear lip of the bumper. http://i522.photobucket.com/albums/w342/StuartWaterman/0170fd41.jpg So I now know what the rear lip is, however I'm still not sure about the front bumper...

Thanks guys, I've disconnected the MAF and took it for a gentle drive. It seems much better now and doesn't rock from side to side at idle. It's still a little lumpy at idle but just the occasional skip rather than the rocking and constant skipping. I'm going to leave it disconnected for tomorrow so...

Some strange Idle and acceleration problems
Z has been a little lumpy at idle over the last few weeks. Not hunting just sounds like it's missing now and again. The wife has just called me to say it's now hesitant when driving in 1st or 2nd. i.e. coasting at 30mph like it's having trouble getting there, then it will just accelerate. It's also ...

Thanks guys. I have the sensor I'm looking for the wires, but I've checked in oth the places above and can not find them. The sensor I have has one blue/brown wire and another blue/red. I have found a coupld of wires on the car that are not connected. One Brown/blue and the other Brown/red. Maybe th...

-40 c because the sensor is not connected.
Found the sensor under the passenger seat today and then realised why it's reading -40c. It's not connected. I know on my 5 series it sits in the splash guard on the driver side front. But where does it sit on the Z3 and where do the sires go back into the loom. I can not seem to find the wires for ...
