Two years ago my W-plate 2.8 required a new electric throttle body due to irregular running and loss of power. BMW-supplied at a cost of ~£524 plus fitting by my Independent, it transformed the car, which drove much more smoothly than at any time during the previous six years of ownership.

Agreed. The magnificent BMW 6-pot engine more than makes up for any differences in handling, and was the reason I bought the Z3. The MX-5 followed-on from six glorious years of E30 M3 ownership, but somehow it didn't bring the same smile to my face (although I have a happier wife!)

Sound advice! I should have put some penetrating oil on my track rod end locking nuts before I sent Zed in for 4-wheel laser alignment. The garage couldn't undo the nut on the N/S front one, with the result that it cost an additional ~£40.00 + fitting for a new replacement!
