Re: Fitting Z3M top mounts to a standard Z3 (2.8)
I tried this once with standard Z3 shocks and they clash on the turret tunnel when you turn more than half the rack, wouldn't be an issue if you had coilovers. I'm sure i have photos kicking around. This is not an issues with the Z3M due to the wishbones being slightly longer and spring top being na...

Re: M54 Oil Consumption - two possible fixes, which is better?
My understanding behind all of this is the design change done by BMW regarding the scraper ring, sit an M52 and M54 scraper ring next to each other and you can see the problem. I also experimented with some oil treatments and got good results from Seafoam, think my video is on zroadster.org somewher...

Re: M54 Oil Consumption - two possible fixes, which is better?
I went through all this last year with the wifes 2.2 The oil rings on the piston are either gummed up or passing. The extra vacuum line did work for me because you're introducing extra pull onto the rings but you could feel the draw on the engine. So i ended up removing this. The only solution I've ...

I'm around the 20 mark now for Z3 rebuilds and the only real bit that makes me nervous every time is removing the 4 m6 cap heads (2 each side) that hold the beam plate in place. Pingu's referring to the preload applied on the prop shaft bearing. I've changed a few z3 clutches at home. Not a hugely complicated job just time consuming. All in not including my own time the cost came to £170 for LUK parts.

To answer your question Kikobo no your bolts wont fall out if you removed the nuts, providing the cars not in the air. The weight of the car will keep them firmly in place. The threads come from the suspension top mounts.
