Re: Keeping the Zed - help needed though

43 offset will be fine but to bring the rears out you would need a 20mm spacer. If you do go for spacers make sure you buy the hubcentric ones, they are more expensive but they are perfectly safe as they have the correct size centre for your wheel to fit onto. I have 8j x 18 wheels all round, offset...

Re: Air con

Halfords do the gas recharge stuff in a can but for an extra £10 - £15 you can get it done properly where they suck all the old gas out & put the correct amount back in, usually with a small amount of lubricant & a dye to check for leaks

If the gas is low the pump will not kick in when the aircon is turned on. The pump is designed to only run if the gas is at the right level/pressure, sensors in the system will stop the pump from starting. It has a clutch built into the pulley which locks on & spins the pump if everything else i...

Re: Rear speakers

The best way to fit bigger speakers is to use a spacer & fit the spacer & speaker on the outside of the trim (this means cutting out a hole in the original speaker grill) but some dont like the look & prefer to keep it looking standard

The speaker grill & surround just clips off I used a small screwdriver to help lever them off, you will then see the screws which hold the speaker in place

Check the handbrake shoes, mine was clicking & jingling on the back. The clicking was knackered handbrake shoes, the jingling was the rear pads as the spring on the back of the pad had been squashed in so the pad was rattling about

Yes they should fit ok although I think the front will be very close to the strutts & if you want to fill the arches you will need to fit at least 20mm spacers on the rear.
Mine are offset 40, the front is just right & I have 20mm spacers on the rear

With yours being the facelift it is most likely the 1.8, if you look at the rocker cover on top of the engine it will be quite narrow as its single cam, the higher power one is a twin cam & has a much wider rocker cover. Your OBD socket inside the car will be on the drivers side under the dash b...

ABS

I didnt think ASC was anything to do with the brake system, it just cuts the power (by the engine) to the wheels if you spin them.
The ASC & ABS share the same sensors but it doesnt affect your brake fluid.

Although mine is a manual roof I know that when you unclip your roof you are supposed to push it up a little which should start that first fold at the front. I am sure the microswitch is supposed to stop it doing what it does in the first picture

If they fit an E36 they should fit the zed but it would be better to ask him what the offset is & what the rim size is, they should be marked up on the inside of the wheels

A common place for the boot to leak is through the brakelight on top of the boot, the seal may need changing.
As for the steering wheel I am not sure but if its plastic touching plastic try silicon spray as that will be better than wd40
