Thanks - as thinking that a dying battery wouldn't help and could even have triggered the multiple fault codes. I've just put a new Bosch battery in the car. Lights are still on, but maybe they will go away after a few 'drive cycles" If not, it's back to diagnostics...

Cheers Gazza! I've removed the grills. That helped with the passenger side latch, but there's no access to the driver's side. I would probably be able to catch the cable if it hadn't snapped, but it's snapped off right off at the latch leaving me virtually nothing to pull on / pry etc. :bawl: :bawl:...

x2 on just changing your oil regularly and keeping on top of servicing (air filter/ plugs etc). And use only high quality branded super-unleaded - it's full of detergents, plus you get improved performance guaranteed by BMW (the z3 ECU remaps for 98 octane fuel) = zoom zoom.

x2 thanks. Lost mine too a few weeks ago. I didn't notice at first, but realised something was missing when I filled up and heard a nasty metal noise when I closed the filler gap. Will also order a new one (and glue it in place).

Drove the Cat and Fiddle to Buxton this afternoon, then on Leek. Great drive!

Just one Zed spotted amongst the hundreds of MX-5s, TVRs, motorbikes etc. Silver Z3: Reg J222 LOO I think (?)

...where are all the Zeds hiding? Never seen so many TVRs in one afternoon!! :lol: :lol:

Thanks. Yes, I've got a code reader with live data. The pre-cat sensors are switching voltage - though one seems to be less response than the other. Given that both banks are reading high, it does suggest a MAF issues. I'd be unlikely if both sensors failed. Maybe time to bite the bullet and buy a n...

Hey guys, I'm planning to swap out the front o2 sensors as part of regular preventative maintenance. Carpartsforless/Eurocarparts list a range of options for my 2002 2.2i M54 engine. Trying to narrow down the right parts... It seems like I need two different Bosch sensors - one longer than the other...

What do you guys use to jack up your cars? I'm forever using my trolley jack and axle stands, but seriously considering investing in a car lift - or at least something a like a beam jack. Just fished out my EazyBleed from the garage. It's on its last legs, so time to get something new. Might just get a one-way bleeder. I've never really like the EazyBleed. It's a bit "fragile" and I don't want pressurised brake fluid flying all over my nice paintwork.

It's only 0.9l for the diff - at least on my car. I've just changed the gearbox fluid. I did a lot of research before selecting the right fluid - lots of conflicting info about fluids on the web generally. Yeah, the Sport has the LSD as standard. It wasn't even an option on the non-sport 2.2i according to my 2001/2002 final run brochure. I've been thinking the same. It's possible that it's had a bump before I got it. It's the uneven wear that's suspicious. The RTABs might be worn, but I would have thought they wear in parallel and affect the rear tyres more evenly?! I do hear a slight knock/clunk from the 'problem' side at low speed...

x2 on visiting Saumur. It's lovely.

Nearby Candes-Saint-Martin is also worth a stop. We had a lovely picnic on the hill overlooking the loire. Bought some delicious raspberries from an old lady in the village on the walk up. Yum.
