Compare the above with the display colour on an E46. The E46 cluster isn't the same layout as the Z3's but the colouring is pretty much identical from what I can see.

As above, make sure the rear screen is warm enough in cold weather before dropping the roof, and dropping it while wet has no major problems in the short term (less than 24 hours).

You could try taking the Z into a BMW dealership, provide proof of ownership and request a replacement copy of the code. Hopefully it will still be on their system.

Or source a fancy Becker headunit as a replacement, they do suit the Z3 interior better than the standard radios, IMHO. :wink:

I'd be a bit worried about the wear to the suspension components and wheel hubs after having had the Z sat around for the majority of it's life.

MAF sensor, camshaft position sensors, lambda sensors would all be on my list to check. Also, linking the car to an OBDII code scanner may result in some codes being mentioned. If any do crop up, that would help in narrowing down the list of possible faults.

I think I'm at the point of being sure in my mind that I'll be selling my Z around the middle of summer next year, mainly due to wanting a change. If I do, I think it would be a change to a Z4 3.0 coupe or roadster, or a Lotus Elise S2. Just my 2p. Good luck with your choice. :)

At the top of the advert it states the offset of ET40. ....I came across this thread. The second reply post is scary. :shock:

On a side note though, I've pinned my issue down heat shield over the exhaust manifold, causing an irritating rattle. I'm just glad it has nothing to do with the viscous fan!

Simply pull firmly, not in a jerky manner, and don't twist. Several owners on the forum, myself included, have opted for a Storm gearknob as a replacement. It definately makes changing gears a lot more slick and less clunky.

I tried that as well, Muppet, but in my experience I found EGP easier to apply via a cloth. The spray had a tendency to coat parts of the wheel and paintwork that I didn't want touched.
