Are you sure the fluid you saw under the car was not just water (condensation) which is what you will get from any car with AC on it that has been running, sounds to me someone has been taking the mickey re needing to spend a £1K when a test has shown it to be ok... you are supposed to run a AC syst...

Good post this with sound reasoning! A tip I was given if you want to know if the paintwork wants 'claying' is put a plastic bag (freezer bag will do) on your hand then wipe it over the paint work with the flat of your hand, it really magnifies any comtaminates you may have on it, try it!

Take it you are filling it to the brim, I wonder if the fuel tank breather is partialy blocked and you are getting a bit of an airlock in the tank untill the level has gone down a tad and there is an air gap. The projectors I have fitted do have adjusters, I set them approx then took it to a MoT station who lined them up for me against their equipment.

Don't forget 1st Aid Kit as well that's a requirement over there as well.

You could also just drill a hole at the crack end to stop it going any further about an 1/8th dia should do the trick.

It's what we did in the aero engine industry on the tin ware etc.
