Quick question - update & thanks
Evening all, Just back in from the garage where I've started work on changing belts and water pump Etc. I'm really struggling with the blue plastic radiator drain plug. It won't shift. I'm a bit pushed for time this weekend, but would really like to change the pump tomorrow. Could I just drain the c...

Bentley manual - M54 2.2 / coolant change
Hey guys, I'm replacing the belts, water pump, and planning a coolant flush this weekend. I'm at 80k on the original pump. Does the bentley z3 manual cover my engine (m54 2.2)? I can cope with the pump and belt change, but am trying to fathom the coolant change procedure... Thought Bentley might hel...

Re: Diff bushes
Thanks guys. Still waiting for quote. In any case, I've now decided that I'll do it myself over the summer. Having done some research, it's likely to cost a fortune to have replaced at the garage (labour ++). The cost/benefit isn't worth it. Better to do it myself slowly. Interested to see that tric...

Re: Diff bushes
Here's pic of the one of the worn bushes. It's really shot. I guess this explains the 'clunk' when 1st gear is engaged and when shifting 1st to 2nd...? I'm yet to get a quote for the repair. Will bite the bullet and call Monday am. Car resting until then :shake: http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5549/11...

Re: Diff bushes
Thanks both - very helpful. I had a look under the car this morning. Unfortunately, I can't get it on axle stands at the moment for a proper inspection (the other car is on all fours in the garage having a rear end rebuild). From what I could see, the diff bush does seem to have worn. Looks a bugger...

Diff bushes
Hi all, I've been told that my diff bush (bushes?) are worn and need replacing. This is not a part that I'm familiar with - don't think I've got them on the MGB. I'm curious to know what they do and also what effects worn bushes might have? I googled and read that it might lead to clunks...? Dare I ...

Z3 ownership - 3 weeks in
3 weeks, 800miles into ownership. All is well. I've been really impressed with the integrity of the roof. You hardly notice that it's a soft top. It's quiet and also impressively watertight. I've just made it over Shap (M6) in the wind and rain on a run back from Scotland. All snug and dry inside. I...

Re: New 2.2i Owner
x2 on Avon tyres. I've got them on the MGB. Great in the wet.
My error. Clearly not a 'sport'. I was sure I'd read it somewhere, but I'd looked at so many ads when buying the car I've got confused. Sport or no sport, I love it
Cheers,
Tom

Re: New 2.2i Owner
Thanks indeed for the tyre info. It really does tramline badly on the motorway!! Basically, I can't drive in the inside lane, because of all the lorry tread paths. Sadly, the tyres are pretty new. I'll be sure to switch them for something else when the time comes. Probably sooner than I think... No ...

Re: New 2.2i Owner
Thanks.
On my car, the on board computer thingy (temp; mpg; average speed etc) is built into the digital clock on the centre console. You switch functions using the indicator stalk. I guess it's a bit of a stretch to call it a 'computer' as such, but you know what I mean.

Re: New 2.2i Owner
Thanks guys! The forum is great. I've already found lots of info (and answers to newbie questions). As you say, you don't buy this car for the mpg. Also, I didn't realise until last week that the on board computer reading is an average not current figure. Before then, I was a little shocked at only ...

New 2.2i Owner
Hi all, I've recently bought a 2.2i Sport. It's my first Z3, BMW, and 6-cylinder. For a 12 year old car, it feels really solid. Hard to believe it's a rag top with the roof up at 70mph. Engine pulls great too. Very smooth. It's loaded with gadgets. I'm loving it almost as much as it loves fuel :) I'...
