2001 2.2i here with 118k on clock. IMO 100k miles is not the residual or reliabilty trigger point it used to be for used cars. I've heard of 300k or more being expected from cared for BMW 6 cylinder engines. The prior more common place process of clocking cars has significantly reduced in recent yea...

Inserts or upgrades - Rear subframe carrier bushes.
I have shared my expererience re lower wishbone upgrades to Z3m items here At some point I will probably aim to improve rear a little. No major issues just a little bunny hop when accelerating over uneven dry surfaces with some lock applied....as reported by many. Not keen on coloured powerflex item...

Covers for rear connector holders
There are 2 connection boxes for the ABS connectors that sit on the rear carrier/subframe , (one each side and rear facing). I have noticed an abscence of covers on each of the plastic housing/connector holder boxes. Spoke to dealer and was told some have covers whereas other don't. Guiy I spoke to ...

2001 2.2 SE with 112k showing on odometer - original M-Sport chromeline gearknob, standard clutch cable. I just changed box & diff oil as preventative maintenance albeit only 100 miles ago so not noticed any diference of yet. Fluids out were in good condition with original colour & smell plu...

Thanks for replying. You say you replaced other fittings. The parts I am looking to replace are 2x item 16. A said keen to avoid cheap items - I have deliberately only considered Lemforder items asalternatives to BMW parts as they are supposedly suppliers to BMW. The Lemforder ones I linked to offer...

For the front end as title on 2.2 SE. Nearside front ARB drop link has slight wear & going to change as a pair. Don't want rubbish - Found Lemforder OE spec items here Compared Motormec, C3BMW & ECP & above seem best v.f.m. Interested in any v.f.m. for decent ones &/or tips re fittin...

Anyone fitted Z3M rear wishbone bushes as 1 off upgrade ?
Car is a 2001 2.2i SE, (not sport), runing stock non- staggered alloys. Car has done 112k historied & believed genuine miles. I have driven/owned various competent RWD cars & various Z3's both fresh & tired. I don't have unreasonable expectations of the Z3 which I have been happy with &a...

Worth considering the handbrake. If not adjusted properly you get rattle noise. Easy way to diagnose with top down and driving over bumpy road gently apply hanbrake a little way - if it stops the nosie thats your problem. Solution is usually to cause same to be adjusted properly. Maybe worhwhile loo...
