You have been busy ... did you replace the control arm bushes as a pair ? I believe new rear wheel arch liners from BMW are supplied without the hole for the damper which will need to be lowered to thread through the new panel. Pat see "bracket" part no 6514229039 which is the "cage" the head unit slides into. The oem wiring seems to clip into the back of the bracket rather tun the head unit, hence the need for the adaptor wiring for non bracket cars . Seems there may be are two different fitments based...

Thanks for the input and feedback. Collected the car this evening from Tim Spicer an independent BMW Specialist in Duxford, Cambs. who carried out an Inspection 2 service plus cambelt and followers, new water pump, and battery. All fluids and filters (inc fuel filter) renewed except the gearbox oil....
