Re: What price genuine diff carrier bushes
£140ish is the price now. They used to be £0ish, but BMW had to have some more made to the original pattern and obviously didn't have the economy of scale from when they were originally made. The only alternative that I know of is non-OEM. If it were me, I'd try to negotiate as good a deal as I coul...

Look at the M setup on realoem (or elsewhere). It has the fogged airbox as standard. There is no anti-rodent mesh - and you do have to be aware that you can't drive through floods .

I think poly subframe bushes with stock diff bush should work well, with the poly bushes preventing the overall subframe float and an "axial"(?) rotation of the subframe. Since they are at the far extensions of the subframe and the diff bush is fairly central I think you can argue they ca...

I can't believe that fitting a marginally harder polyurethane bush would cause the diff bracket to rip away after a relatively short time - I've never seen this reported anywhere else. In my view it's more likely to be pre-existing damage/flaw either in manufacture or due to an old, wobbly OE bush....

Are you planning to swap from a donor car, or to get the parts individually. I ask this because with the donor car option, it is probably easier to swap everything, whether it's different or not. Some people would call 1959 "modern". [emoji38] My Sprite is largely based on engineering from an earlier age. If it hasn't run for a while it seems to take some effort to get fuel through the carb, so spinning the engine without ignition would probably also help with that. I have to turn...

Best might be to have air gaps, but to loop straps over the structure and bolt them to the floor.

I'd be very surprised if the driveshafts would be too weak to handle the torque. If you use a 1.9 diff, that could be too weak, but finding out is part of the fun :D . These torques are engine torques, you will have to calculate worst case scenarios using g/box and diff ratios... 1.9 torque = 180Nm ...
