Re: Anyone Replaced Rear Subframe Bushes In Situ?
I dont see how it could be done in situ. I dropped the subframe a foot so the bushes were clear of the studs. Made my own tool. There may be a post about it years ago.

Happy new year everyone [emoji3] A few of you will know the car has had a small coolant leak for a while, getting worse in 2015. On Pingu's run last year it got me worried and I didn't drive the car much after for fear of coolant loss and overheating. The leak was coming out of the bottom of the bel...

Re: Advice needed on replacing petrol tank straps.
Had a look today. You need to drop the rear subframe. The straps bolt towards the rear of the tank and need to be lowered /hinged forwards. At the front of the fuel tank the straps hook into a bracket. Fuel tank stays put but subframe needs to be removed.

I have replaced the straps without dropping the tank. My car is up on stands now so will take a look this weekend to see how accessible they are. It was several years ago when I did it.

Try pushing the door hard and lift the handle. If the belt is trapped its going to be pushing the door outwards against the lock. You need to counter that force.

Oh and I got 23 mpg all week On the motorway run the refill cost less than pingu paid. The v8 used a little bit more than the 3.2 but low octane is cheaper.

Hey Stu. Whats the front bottom?? Pingu had the fuel stops well planned out. I had 15litres in the boot and only used it once or twice. There is a 24-hr unmanned station at Durness which was a blessing.

Better option is exopy primer, more stable and doesn't shrink. Rough up the steel before spraying. That will stick better than 1k.

I'm in the market for a top quality job doing on the motor to finish it off. Had some panels re-sprayed over the winter by a local shop (including the hamann top) and he had made a poor job of it. I have been to a very good spray shop today who seem very capable (place full of expensive cars) and ex...

Re: Brake Upgrade - Help Required
You can easily get too much front bias with a brake upgrade. You can fit the /M master cylinder as a direct swap. This drops the front pressure since diameter is 25.4mm. If this still leaves you too much front bias it may be possible to fit the rear /M caliper (or another BMW caliper with a bigger b...

Re: OEM AIR FILTER ELEMENTS vs "OILY" K&N TYPE FILTERS.
The stuff in the intake may be baked on oil from the breather. If so its normal. I have a catch can in my motor to collect the oil. A drawback of injesting oil is that it lowers the fuel octane. Catch cans are fitted to mitigate this. It surprises me how much oil is stopped by the catch can.
