Yep we're a black and blue family.
Black M the Blue Z.
Unfortunately our son has absolutely no interest in cars apart from being a taxis service. This means when we go on holiday we have to take the hurse, sorry Touring

You lucky lot. Spent most of the day trying to get all the oil off the garage floor. Still later had to nip to the shop and my wife kindly let me borrow her Z to make the trip. The 1.9 auto may not have the poke of the M but even after ten years it still has the fun factor. The only problem was that...

If that is a BMW $tealer, I would be having a word with BMW UK Customer Services, as they sound to be blowing smoke up your ass. People make mistakes, we all do, I just wish some of them (particularly garages) would admit it when they do. I had the back end of a brand new car scraped when it...

Got the AA to check the car. Two bolts had fallen out and the remaining two were finger tight. It must have happened just as I returned home although we could not find the bolts. On start up oil sprays everywhere. My Vanos was not growling before and there was no loss of performance. Engineer said I...

After reporting a lumpy start-up to my garage they reported the following on the invoice: 1. Checked the fault codes and found nothing. 2. Ran a vanos test to check system and found the exhaust retard inoperative. Can anybody give me any ideas on what the vanos check entails? There is a reason for t...

I have now received responses to both of my queries. Firstly from VOSA: “ If your vehicle was taken back to the original test station for the retest they could have only charged you up to half the original fee. It was retested for what ever reason at a different test station so that garage had to do...

You're right, trust nobody. I this case I don't believe it is a scam. The garage did not know the centre which failed the initial test. They are over thirty miles apart. I believe the cold was the culprit but if you define a specific standard test MOT centres need to take this into account. Since ev...

Depreciation will be more on the roadster than the coupe but you will pay less for the convertible in the first place. Unless you get one with a hard top you will have all of the usual problems, occasional leaks, scratched rear window, more noise, less security. The roadster also has slightly less s...

On my car, prelaunch german demonstrator, both of the oil lights are red. The bottom one, an oil can with a wavy line underneath is the sensor light. The top oil light and the bottom light both come on when the ignition is turned on to position 2. Depreciation and all that
Depreciation is a big factor. In 11 years the car has depriciated £30,000. In addition petrol is a big cost to add. However, averaging 6000 miles a year, with all running costs, depreciation and maintenance it works out to just less than £16/day. That is pessermistic since I have estimated fuel at 1...

The roadster will be 11 years old this month. Loooooooooooots of fun but what about the costs of running such a high performance car? For the performance quite amazing as I hope the following figures show. They do not include road tax, mot and insurance. However, I have given my current year’s insur...

A Long time. The history of my car is it was built in Feb 1997 as one of the first batch. 38 cars were made in Jan 1997 and mine was one of the 148 made in the Feb. I have tended to use Optimax as a preference though that is more from habit and the location of the garage....

Just had the leather seat back replaced since the leather was worn. Mechanic had to remove the whole seat.
