Hi Ian,
Do you have any photos of the ones you supply? I'm interested in getting some if they look OK.

Magnetic chip protectors
Seen quite a few of you with the rear wing stone chip guards just behind the doors. Those front wheels tend to throw up grit and stones that hit just there.I know it's possible from somewhere to buy the magnetic sheet to make some, but where?Or who sells them?

Re: Bought a Z3 in Impala brown
Must say I thought the idea of a brown Z3 was pretty awful, but I typed in BMW Z3 Impala brown on google and there are lots of images. It's not really the kind of chocolate brown I was expecting, more a bronze colour which looks good especially with the tan roof (top right photo) as suggested on here.S...

2.8 s yes,it's the other bit - low mileage - that there are few of. I regularly look at the sites, but see few like mine. It's a 1999 36,000 miles with full BMW service history.
BUT, if you're trying to ascertain value it's the old story - 'it's what someone is willing to pay' !

Oh,it's one of those things we used to get given when I had to attend meetings etc in the olden days when I had to work! I never wore mine on the grounds that I hate to be labelled.Anyway, mine should probably have said 'Dickhead'!!
Hope it will be fine on Sunday.

Service light reset.
Question for the experienced. I've serviced the car before the service lights indicated it was necessary .Ie; it had not gone into the amber zone. When I have tried to reset the lights both with the special tool and also tried with a multimeter the lights stay the same.I have now been told that I ne...

BMW feedback on issues?
I'm not a member of the BMW car club, but I wonder if they get any feedback on common problems with cars from BMW itself. In particular has 'BMW' responded to the many of us who own Z3 models which 'clunk' at low speed in 1st and 2nd gear. There are threads on this topic on every site around the world...

Re: Knocking Sounds
Hi there, If you locate and fix the problem let me know. My 2.8 is the same.I get clunking when moving 1st to 2nd at low speeds especially when in and out of the clutch. Off the ground when I move the wheels or propshaft the 'knock' seems to come from the gearbox / prop joint area.Although when driv...

Hi all, I want to get a new rear screen.£201 + VAT at BMW garage.I've seen posts on here about cheaper versions, but heard of problems with the zips on these. Also, there was a thread about some saying they were thinner than the original yet not folding too easily. Re: Z3 1999 2.8 Gearbox - help
Hi bertrand, I have a 1999 2.8 with similar problem. Not so much the gearchange 1st/2nd as my other BMW is about the same on changes. It's the 'clunk' that is frustrating.I posted on here before about the problem which seems very common, but my car has only covered 35000.There is definitely play betwee...

Hi Paul,
Not sure what you are suggesting for this show.I would like to go for a look around , but I would not want to 'enter' my car in a show. Are we just parking and looking at the other Cars/Classics which presumably are 'entered in the show'?
Regards,
Ken.

Leak above driver's door.
I have a leak where the roof meets the top corner of the window on the driver's side. The passenger side seals well, but on my side the rubber does not quite seal properly.
Apart from getting a new roof fitted! Any ideas from other sufferers?

Hi all, Tend to agree there, they have different qualities.I had an MX5 Mk2 1.8,fitted a Sportex back box and it drove and sounded Fab!!Hairdresser's car - pound for pound or even compared to almost anything the most fun you can have on four wheels! Re: Low speed 1st ,2nd gear 'clunk'.
Hi again, I'm with you Titantim,my clunk has got nothing to do with my driving style. My other car is a BMW 3 series which has done nearly twice the mileage of the Z3 ,but has no clunky noises whatsoever.Obviously the 3 series is much newer so the Z3 can have age related issues to parts. I've had sev...

Re: Low speed 1st ,2nd gear 'clunk'.
Hi again, Mine is definitely play at the junction of shaft to gearbox. There is nothing at the back end,but a clear 'knock' at the end of the gearbox when I rotate the shaft back and forth. I've had my ear right next to it.It's not bad and the gear change is fine, but I'm wondering how long I should l...

Re: Low speed 1st ,2nd gear 'clunk'.
Hi Del, Yes,I've seen a lot of stuff about diff bushes and oil,but I've found the 'play' is where the prop enters the gearbox. It's quite clear that's where the 'knock' is when I move the propshaft. It's not much so I'll live with it for a while. My other car is a 3 series with 63000 now and no noise w...

Low speed 1st ,2nd gear 'clunk'.
Hi all, Does anyone have a Z3 that doesn't have any transmission 'clunk'?? There seems to be loads of references to this on all Z3 sites worldwide so is it 'normal' to have some slack in the take up through the drivetrain? I had a series of Triumph cars many years ago GT6 s ,2000 etc, with 7 UV join...
