Replaced Filler Cap strap
The strap on DotCom's Z had perished and snapped. It's not a major problem but I decided to have a go at creating a substitute. You can carefully prise the black outer cover off the inner metal assembly to gain access. There is a spring under the "handle" which prevents over tightening. Re...

2.2i v Z3m
SpunkyM wrote Two groups might have worked better maybe? There were two groups - except Dot Com and I were the only memebrs of the second one  !! But we got there in the end (and not toooo far behind) and it would have been unfair to stop the rest of the Z3Ms "enjoying" themselves. S...

Ultrasonic reversing sensors
Apologies up front for this one - it's not our Z but my E39 that's causing the problem. Can anyone tell me why the bleeper is sounding continuously as soon as reverse is engaged? I know spiders have been a problem in the past but I have washed and hosed the detectors to make sure there is no debris ...

It's Working Again !
Well I let the stealer loose on it and eventually we have a solution :D The micro switch was PART of the problem but there was also an earth fault. Problem was identified between centre console activating switch, the hood micro switch and earth/ground side of relay circuit. The micro appears to be w...

Still not working
Well it's a nice day and we should have been out driving but..... 1. Fuse 1 OK - power to red/yellows in the boot. There may have been power there before - previously I was testing the connector at the motor which obvioulsy didn't have power otherwise the motor would have worked :dunce: 2. Fuse 4 OK...

Mike / estocks Thanks very much for the new tips and info :D Weather permitting I will check things again tomorrow - up to now it would have been easier to have left the hard lid on ........ The intermittent hood micro sounds plausible, as does a duff fuse if there is no 12v on the red and yellows w...

There seems to be some confusion amongst readers of this thread. :dunce: The hood was working fine after the hard top was removed. :) Then one day (when it wasn't raining  ) Dot lowered the hood electrically. It then refused to close no matter how many times the brake and switch were pressed :(...

Update. Been probing around with multimeter and bits of wire. The motor is OK - wired it straight off the battery (convenient having one at the other side of the boot  ) However there is no power coming through the red/yellow supply cables to the motor. It seems there is a relay problem betwee...

OK folks The hood is now up with the motor disengaged :( The fuse in the engine bay (number 1, green) is intact and has power to it when the ignition is on with brake and hood button depressed. But there is still no life at the motor in the boot. There is obviously a micro-switch in the left hand hi...

Having read this thread and been offered extended warranty at £970 or "only" £894 with £100 excess but excluding battery and exhaust, I was wondering of there is a list of independents on Zroadster? Alternatively, does anyone know of any independents in the North Yorks/South Durham/Clevela...

Light switch illumination
Should the front and rear fog light switches (buttons) illuminate when the dash lights are on?
And the follow up...
If they should but don't, is there a simple way to fix the problem? !!

Can anyone help us please? :?: Now that the cold weather has arrived and the hard top is on :( the inside of the front and rear screens is often misted up or even coated with larger droplets of water. Stu
That makes sense. I would have preferred a steel one but it was not listed as available for the Z3.

The Sparco strut is alloy. I believe it is red (painted) from the pictures and examples I have seen. My wife's Z is silver with black/dream red upholstery so thought red should be OK. I haven't opened this one up yet 'cos it's a surprise birthday present and I rather like the brown cardboard and par...

BimBemma's comment put me off the e-tech Finally got to fit the e-tech strut this morning - bit of a pain to fit as the base that fitted on the strut wasn't properly shaped so didn't sit on all the screws, so had to give it a fair bit of muscle to shape it to fit, then the bar wouldn't fit flush, so...

Sparco Strut Brace
Having read other posts on the forum I decided to get a strut brace for my wife's Z3. The insurance company offerred no loading if it was professionally fitted. So, not wanting to go to the expense of the USA Strong Strut, I chose the Sparco model which the local rally garage is happy to install. A ...

Drain Hole
Thanks for a great bit of info
Having soaked the water out with a sponge the orifice was obvious.
I used the tube/nozzle from a can of WD40. It made a great unblocking tool.
