I'm not an expert in these "compression" subframe bushes but would guess that for the inserts to work best, one has to start with OE bushes that are in good condition. Mine looked a bit ropey (build date May 1998). In my vicinity, I've found a couple of independent BMW specialists who hav...

Seems that labour involved to put the inserts in is not far off replacing the bush provided you are able to remove the bushes.

You will get wear on the inside edge on any BMW and more so the Z when lowered.
As Captain said above swap the tyres over. It's what I do to double the life. I do it every 5-6k miles. The 12k miles you got on those is very good going in my book.

You can swap the metal bases/frames over so that you keep your existing motors and wiring.
If I recall correct that will solve the electric motors and seatbelt pretensioner wiring.
Then just the seat heater wiring will need modifying (if applicable).

If you can try and keep the z and get another, perhaps less expensive economical car for the daily so you have a choice for space/economy and fun/top down.
Then as you have 2 cars you get to tinker with one and still have another to drive!

Not so sure about roll over protection from the seat.
Once you separate the seat from the base it pretty light, the weight is all in the base and motors, not much higher up.
The seats out of our galaxy with in built boosters - those are heavy lucky they have handles!
