No not a relay but a resistor, the resistor is situated in the blower ducting and it has three different resistance values. The different values enables the three fan speeds. The resister comes as one part with a multipin connector on the top.

Hi Liam,

You need a blower resister, the resistor is located behind the centre console in the passenger footwell.

IIRC the part is approx £25.00 from a dealer, once you have located the resister fitting is straight forward as the new one will just plug in.

Titan,

I insured 2 cars through Admiral multi-car, the price beat any other deal I could find. Renewal came around with a £400.00 increase in the premium so I insured else where. The only down side is that I now have 2 cars that require insuring on the same day. Ouch, sore on the pocket.

I am afraid that unless you have your own reset tool, the light has to be reset by a dealer or Indie.

Here are a couple of pics of the speakers removed. You can see that there is a lock ring that screws onto the speaker to hold in place, As Robert T suggests you will need to remove some trim to get to the lock ring behind. BMW can tell you the origin of the car via the VIN, it will show on their computer, The DVLA require a form to be filled in to trace the previous owners etc. Each trace costs £5 :shock:

I changed my seats last year (along with the rest of the interior :smile:)and I can say that this transformed the whole feel of the car for me. I would definitely recommend the change over.

Hi War Pig

Recently had this on my 1.9, the temp needle would not reach the centre. A new thermostat solved the problem and it now runs up to temp no problem. I used the test function in the speedo head to check the actual temp and it showed it was running cool.

I am with Hang_em_high, its got to be worth a try at that price.
I would think once fitted you will need the airbag light reset again by your indie and then it the airbag light should stay off. Only down side is that the passenger airbag would deploy with or without a passenger.
