Links are working for me. The parade lap form was included with my tickets, so no need to rush to print that one out.

Finished waxing today and zed is hiding under its cover. Still need to finish the wheels, interior and engine bay.

The wife and I will also be coming along, now booked in on Friday night at Mercure Milton Keynes, Abbey Hill.

Would love to be involved in the convoy to Silverstone Saturday morning.

Really looking forward to it!

I can't access the forms. (conversion failed?).

Not too bothered as I've done a parade lap before. Hopefully, there will be forms to complete at the gate.

I know this is a bit late in the day, but we should be back from Germany in time to get to Silverstone on Saturday.
Can I still get a ticket?
Is there a programme of events for the Saturday?
Sadly, I'll need to be back in Somerset on Saturday evening.
Thanks.

Mod Edit: Post moved from last year's event to this year's event. R.

Did you not get a hardcopy with your tickets, pingu? If not, I can see if I can convert it to a PDF and email it to you.

I have made PDFs of the Parade Lap Form and the Do Not Touch notice, which can be downloaded directly from zroadster.net here:

Saturday Track Parade Sign-on V2.pdf

Please do no touch.pdf

@Batchem1 - According an email sent on the 19th, the BMWCCGB have a limited number of tickets (including display passes) still available for BMWCC members, up until 5pm TODAY. Other than that, you may still be able to get a ticket to come to the show as a normal visitor - take a look at http://www.silverstoneclassic.com/ which also says 5pm TODAY. It appears to be advance tickets only.

ah that depends where I put the notice

Car all healthy (new speed and cam sensors fitted this week), inside hoovered and wiped down. Just got to give it a quick wash tonight ready for a meander down to Silverstone tomorrow morning (no idea what time, depends when I wake up).

See you guys there and whoever is staying at the Northampton hotel on Friday night off J15 M1.

Just spent the afternoon polishing the car only to find out it's going to be pouring down with rain when I leave. Hopefully I'll be able to get the hood down before I get to Silverstone.

Think I have dried out now. Why oh why did we not take snoops' gazebo down before we went for the parade lap?

Lap had to be abandoned - I would expect because of large amounts of standing water. There were a few flashes of lightning as I was driving back to the stand.

Fantastic day up to that point and a big thank you to the BMWCC for all their hard work.

And thanks to snoops and seasurfer for their hospitality.

I'll be back tomorrow for some more.

Cheers R.

Such a shame about the parade lap, having been on a drenched Silverstone track I can vouch it is no fun at all! Still wish I could have been there though.

Bit disappoonted at this years zedfest. We arrived at the appointed car park bang on 9:30 only to find about four other bms also there-when he phoned his mate it appeared that bmw oc had already gone. Wewere advised to go back through the main gate . After queing for another 30 minutrs we arrived at the ,zedfest area and no marshals to be found. No spaces - just total mayhem. It was still a good day out but can we have a bit more guidance on arrival please.

We had a fantastic weekend, not having the parade lap didn't spoil our weekend at all. It was great to meet up with lots of friends we had met at previous events. Many thanks to everyone involved in putting this event on for us to enjoy, a day not to be forgotten, again. :D

Will post some pictures later when we sort through 600+ pictures. :)

Really enjoyable weekend, very well organised, many thanks to all those who's hard work made it such a success. Shame about the parade lap but we had such a good time we didn't mind too much. It was great to meet up with everyone again & some new faces too. Great mini cruise there & back with Ron & Gail (Ragtop) Looking forward to seeing all the pictures Gail. Roll on next year :)

Just got back home now. Another fun day at Silverstone. Plenty of friendly people to talk to, but an awful lot quieter than Saturday in the BMW area. Had a good mozy round the pits and talked to some of the racers and had a good natter to some of the Sprite owners. Will post some photos up later.

A big thank you to all of those involved in the organisation.

Maybe I shouldn't, however, I feel inclined to defend the 'total mayhem' comment. We stopped marshalling at 10:20 as we were told that all infield movement stopped at 10am. There were still some spaces available although I concede that they would be tricky to find if you weren't familiar with the area. Did you go and ask anyone for help at the BMWCCGB tent? There was a lot of guidance provided beforehand (some have commented that there was too much!) so it's difficult for me to know what else we could have done in the circumstances. If this was your first time at the Silverstone Classic then please don't make it your last. The BMWCCGB will learn from this and rethink the forum areas organisation in the future. Might I suggest that you arrive with a little more time to spare rather than bang on the time that the gates were due to close - please take that last comment in the spirit that it's meant.

I have to admit that although it was good this year, I preferred last year.

We were squeezed in like sardines (cars not really on show just parked up)

It seemed that other marques of cars had a lot more space (perhaps they don't like BMW!)

The area we were parked in last year was totally free (could we not park there or would bmwcc not allow it?)

We invited other forums for a cup of tea and cake (in the name of charity) in which only a few turned up.

it would be better if there was no grouping just all together in one place.

Shame about the track parade, but you can't help the weather.

If we had gone on at 6 as planned it would have been ok.

I'm not putting a damper on what was an excellent day out, but just giving my opinion.

We planned to get you in one forum at a time and park you up nicely (as per the layout diagram). The organisers asked us to organise you in the forming up car park so that they could bring you in in groups of 20/30. In reality we had hardly any cars from 7am to 9am (~10 cars) and then a queue of ~200 to line up who weren't in forum order. The organisers moaned that we'd managed to clog up the local area - seemed a bit rich considering that they'd reneged on the plan they gave us! Needless to say we had to get you into some sort of order in double quick time with a minimal amount of marshals. Alas that meant that we couldn't line you all up as I'd hoped.
Badman gee wrote: It seemed that other marques of cars had a lot more space (perhaps they don't like BMW!)
BMW UK wanted us next to their corporate area, the organisers assured us that we had enough space. Hindsight says they didn't plan enough space between cars. The irony is that there was loads of space next to z4-forum because the club that was meant to be there didn't show!!
Badman gee wrote: The area we were parked in last year was totally free (could we not park there or would bmwcc not allow it?)
BMWCCGB asked for the same place, the organisers wouldn't allow it.

Not sure how that would have helped your tea/cake initiative (I did enjoy my coffee & cake though, thanks for the hospitality)

I've been going to Silverstone for some years now ,although with other car clubs, this was my first year with BMW. The problem this year I think was to many cars and not enough spaces, that was Saturday. Sunday was totally different straight in and parked on the tarmac and the grass area was totally empty. Although it 's easy to criticize, and I have to admit I got a bit peeved at the queing on Saturday , the job of organising is one I wouldn't want to do, so many thanks to those who took the time and trouble to do so,much appreciated a hard job well done. I had a great two days and learnt that Sunday is probably the better day to go. :)

I agree, Sunday is, but we did Sunday last year and it was totally dead.

Not having gone on a Sunday I cannot comment but I can say that we did Friday and Saturday this year and Friday was excellent.

Full days programme with concert at night and with a lot less people there so nice to get around and enjoy what there is.

I would like to thank those that were involved in the organising and I will give some feedback but I hope it will be taken in the spirit it will be given, so that we can improve each year.

Space allocation is a nightmare at events of this size - the organizers do try to keep everybody happy and as this year was a special year for the 911 they required a lot of space - I watched them go out for their parade lap today and someone mentioned that they were trying to get 911 cars! Obviously more space has to be allocated to those clubs celebrating some kind of birthday - one would hope that the same would apply to us when we come to celebrate one of ours. Possibly the worst problem for the organizers is allocating a large space and the club not filling it - half full plots does not look good and to be quite honest is embarrassing for the club - I know, I have been in this situation more than once when people say they will come and simply don't turn up - the reality is that the organizers will be less willing to give you a big space the next time - at least with a ticket only event you can predict the numbers a bit better, but as Ian mentions, you still get complete no shows.

Moving that many cars around at the same time is a logistical nightmare and I think Silverstone is better than many places in that there are a number of routes that they can route vehicles round - it is always a problem at circuits where you can only cross the track at a limited number of points. I was not convinced of the forum areas beforehand and I am even less convinced now. Parking a queue of 200 cars really doesn't work as your tailback gets in everyone elses way (even if it does look impressive when you all turn up at once), and I think forums trying to find their areas really didn't help. I appreciate the request for groups for 20-30 cars at a time, but to do this you do need a number of people who know where they are going to lead the groups. For another year, you might ask people to volunteer to lead a group in, then you can brief them properly and they can take a line of cars in.

Today's turnout was somewhat depleted and there seemed to be a bit of a lack of communication with the club tent and those parking the cars, as when I turned up I went to where we parked yesterday and I was the only car there - I was soon pointed in the right direction, and it's no big problem to me, but it does go to show that you need to make sure that all points of contact know the plan, as people sometimes turn up in unexpected places. The plan worked to a degree as last year I sat in a queue for an hour and a half (with an ///M with a poorly clutch behind me) and this time we didn't queue at all.

I thought the BMWCC did an excellent job in the circumstances and we were all made to feel very welcome. It was a shame that it rained on our parade, but no-one can help the weather. I enjoyed my weekend and hope to go again next year. If we want a bigger pitch, then we need to get more cars signed up early on.

Cheers R.

I'm sorry Ian.............................I have no complaint about Sunday at all :D

Straight in, parked and pointed towards the BMW hospitality marquee for a free coffee and gift pack.

Many thanks to the Organisers from whatever Forum for their time and troubles.
