North Lincs Meet

Post by eddie1 »

Fancy organising a meet for Z owners in the North Lincs area. Call it a 'Z night' meet up at a pub somewhere in the locality. Keep it local, short distance so its no big deal if you have a couple of hours spare! The usual, chat, light drink, grub if available, open to suggestions. Could make it a regular thing if enough interested!
On another note, saw a classic car club at a local golf club ( Forest Pines ) they were doing a 3 county tour, stopping overnight at hotels, seemed a great idea! Be great to do a Z themed one! Appreciate feedback!

Hey Eddie, sorry I can't make Donny this weekend. The idea of a N.Lincs meet sounds good. I'm currently looking into a possible meet/show of cars at Marshalls Yard in Gainsborough for next summer. They had some Marshall tractors there 3 weeks ago, one of which was my brothers and we went to have a look and the seed of the idea was planted. I'm between Gainsborough and Lincoln so fairly local.
Cheers Tony.

Any suggestions, pubs with good car parks, Marshalls yard is OK if not busy otherwise we'll be parking all over the place. Nice to see the cars in a group! Nice pub on the way in on the bend near the football ground is it the something tree? Nice pint of Guinness, might have to take the Mrs so she can drive home! Or any places Trent side would be nice, if anyone knows of any. We could keep our eye on the weekly forecast, then do it shortish notice. If most are not driving too far.

Shall we get it sorted then! Doesn't matter if only a few turn up. Word of mouth will make future ones better attended. I'll look up some dates and post them, suggestions for meet destination please!

A couple of car clubs hold meetings at the Dog & Gun, East Butterwick and the Jenny Wren in Susworth. The Mallard in Scunthorpe has a decent size car park. I,m sure there will be others but I drive past these most days so they come to mind.

Hi Eddie, re Marshalls Yard, when they had the tractors there the other week they closed one aisle off for the display. I'm sure if enough were interested they would do the same for us. I am looking at next summer for that. It works for the centre too as if it gets people into town to see the cars they will shop as well. :)

That would be The Elm Cottage if memory serves. Not much room small pub.

Like the sound of the Trent port pub, we could have a trial there see what sort of turnout we get. Then, we could plan a better one for next year at marshalls yard or elsewhere. Jenny Wren is good but some might find it out the way! Even Barton Humber Bridge viewing area would be good in the future. Barton holds a bike night we could hold a Z night or classics even! Something to plan for the future!

Hi Eddie

great idea for a North Lincs meet. Would be coming across the Humber Bridge so anywhere North Lincs way would be good. Having auto transmission problems at the moment hoping to get fixed next couple of weeks.
Will keep watching this space to see when dates suggested and will attend if at all possible.

you are right - Barton bike night is massive

Thinking of the 20th July. Is that OK for you guys? It doesn't matter how many come. Its close by and be good for a sunday drive and lunch! So post on here if you're up for it and if you want to eat. Then I can give them a rough idea how many to cater for. If its good for a meet up, we can make it a regular thing. Or meet at other central hostelries.

We have a meeting with the BMWCC during the day from 10.30 at the Yorkshire wildlife park about 18 miles away, sure Z club members would be very welcome, Would be happy to plan a route taking in some good country roads ending up at trent port for a meal and a gathering.

Trent Port Pub, the plan was for a meet up, I don't think I can give a full day to it. So I'll not be able to attend Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Those who want to go to Trent Port give me a definite response and I'll put you down on here. So I can check with the pub roughly how many to cater for. Are we saying 13:00 to eat!

However I will defo let you know if coming in next day or so....cheers Pete.

OK, we'll say 1:00 PM. Trent port. Foodwise any who want it will have to chance it, unless a definite booking is wanted. The Mrs and me are going over to Gainsboro' on Monday, we'll have a drink in the Trent Port while we are there! See you there, be good to see some of the folk who frequent the site at last!

Did a scouting mission to eyeball Trent Port, looks a nice place. Completely geared as a food pub. Had a nice pint of Bombardier Shandy. Good Car Park, they asked how many would be dining, I provisionally booked for eight. I will ring on Friday to confirm if any are eating. Booked for 13:30, we will have to park as we find it, on arrival!
Whatever, nice just to have a shandy and a natter!
