THE NEW SEAT LIFT KIT...AT LAST!
Some of you will recall the original thread on this topic...well after making up a couple of samples, it was found that lifting the fron of the seat 20mm resulted in restrictions to the following:-
a). the 20mm lift applied excessive pressure behind the knees and especially on the right leg as it was required to be at the gas pedal constantly while driving. On a long trip this could result in circulation issues.
b). the 20mm lift caused the top of the seat backrest to come into contact with the bodywork behind it prematurely. To allow the backrest to fully tilt back meant the seat neede to be shifted forward. This is a problem for taller people.
c). the 20mm lift resulted in enough leg room with the seat fully back, but the backrest then had to be positioned more upright...nothing less enjoyable than driving doubled over...
After trying to incorporate the full adjustability of the seat, and allowing for the seat front to be raised some problems were encountered. The primary issue was the length of the OEM front M8 Stud. It is aprox 12mm long at best. If a 10mm spacer is placed over this stud and then the seat slide...well the stud is aprox 1mm below the level of the top of the seat slide, and obviously a nut can't attach.
Recently I posted a topic regarding "Sex Bolts"...lots of fun transpired as a consequence... but essentially that was the component which would make a 10mm lift possible, and still allow the full depth of the stud to be used to lock the seat slide down
As you can see from the attached pic, the spacers have a recess on one face, and a "nipple" on the opposite face. The underside of your seat slide has a "nipple" which slots into the floor area below it...hence the spacer in the pic has a recess to accommodate that seat slide nipple. The opposite face of the spacer has a nipple to fit into the recess in the car floor / carpet. The beauty is that no stability integrity is lost.
Now for the magic of the SexBolt.... The spacer has a 12mm hole in it, and the "Sex Bolt" has a smooth 12mm shaft...(I can hear the sniggers guys !!)...anyhow, the spacer is placed over the stud and located into the floor recess, the seat slide is located into the top recess of the spacer, the Sex bolt slips snugly into the 12mm hole, and attaches to the stud, by the internal M8 thread....
Now isn't that just the neatest solution to a "mild" front seat lift which provides a more secure seated position - no more sliding forward and slouching, allows the full forward /aft seat adjustment without compromising the backrest tilt position, and also relieves the pressure behind the knees and it's consequences.
The best is always left for last...Originally the cost was somewhere in the region of £40 per seat... Now, it's just £17.50 excl. postage.
Anyone interested please PM me with your postal addy....

Yep...I accept PayPal....gifted or otherwise...
Interesting bit of useless info...PayPal is was the brainchild of a born South African... I'll bet he's long emigrated to Aus, Canada, UK, USA etc etc etc etc....Here they call it "The chicken run"...what they mean is they can't afford to leave...
But for some like me...it's the same wherever you go...there are rules...you just need to make them work for you...

Re: THE NEW SEAT LIFT KIT...AT LAST!
Here's the cost of postage... 1 X SEAT KIT £.14.00
2 X SEAT KITS £.15.00.
This would mean if anyone want's to arrange with a mate, it will be more coat effective to "share" the postage between 2 people...
....or if you're buying 2 sets, it works out considerably cheaper per set....
Pm me with postal addy...delivery is 3 - 10 days airfreight. (I guess some planes just fly slower ??)

Re: THE NEW SEAT LIFT KIT...AT LAST!
I have just fitted one of these into my car...It took about 10 - 15mins, including sipping some tea. It is to say the least...absolutely perfect
One of the aspects which I really like is that the OEM hole in the front seat slide which goes over the stud is a 12mm hole. This means that the "sex bolt" fits snugly through with .25mm allowance all round.
What a solid fit !! I adjusted the seat fwd / aft, up / down, backrest fully back etc...I'm 6'.1" and the seating position is magic...no sense of pressure behind the knees, but undoubtedly a sense that my butt tended to slide back into the "\/" between backrest and seat.
Gentlemen, I am very proud to say we have a seat lift kit which is safe, comfrtable and purpose made for our cars.....

Re: THE NEW SEAT LIFT KIT...AT LAST!
From a total of 22 sets, I'm down to 9 sets left...anyone wanting one sooner rather than later, order now please. I shan't re-order components until these have gone. Production time is aprox 10 days.
Perhaps importantly, there are no alterations required to the OEM status of your car. ie. no drilling cutting etc for these to fit, so anyone who is concerned with the OEM status of their cars, or returning them to OEM for selling purposes, you can simply remove the lift kit and replace the OEM nut to the stud.

Re: THE NEW SEAT LIFT KIT...AT LAST!
The dual ear diff cover upgrade to prevent the spotwelds / diff bracket / subframe catastrophe....See my post on the list....I'm actually just on my way to collect some of the parts required from the CNC guys...I'll be posting a complete photo essay on the task. It's going to make a huge difference to a heap of guys that have the issue, and want an economic method of repair and or prevention. The best kit currently is the Randy Forbes kit...but at $650 ex shipping and duty + VAT...it's a huge expense. I'd like to cut the "essentials down to £120 - £ 140.00 if I can, with as good a result as you can get anywhere. In fact, the idea is to make it as much of a DIY as possible.

Only if you reckon the missus doesn't deserve one...
They're absolutely good..no big deal to fit, and provide just enough lift to make the seated position more comfortable.

Re: THE NEW SEAT LIFT KIT...AT LAST!
Just a quick note to all the guys that have bought these kits in the past days...There is a postal strike here which has been ongoing since the 12th of Feb...Parcels are being shipped out, but it's almost like the old snail mail image...please be patient, these items will get to you. The post office quotes 5 - 10 working days (Mon - Fri)...they just omit to say it applies when they actually do some work...
My apology to all.
Barry
My apology to all.
