If this fits a z3m coupe I will buy it!
Re: Air con parts for sale
Damn, I didn't see this before.. If still available (and fits S50 M Roadster), I'd be very keen on buying these!

Re: Air con parts for sale
I would say that all 6 Cyl Z3's have the same Aircon set-up...so it should fit all irrespective...Check the part numbers for your vehicle on realoem and compare to what is being sold....takes a few minutes to determine suitability...
Re: Air con parts for sale
Without sounding despondent there is quite a lot of electronics to operate the air con so you need to check this is available as well + all the clips etc to mount the pipework and radiator.

Re: Air con parts for sale
It was never listed as a full working setup hence 'parts' in the title. It is the majority of what you'd need though and as most zeds have a generic loom fitted I'm sure the connections will be there somewhere for electrics?

Re: Air con parts for sale
You're right about the loom and the relative connections. They will be present in all cars in the same way that the cruise control can be retro fitted. Aircon was an option on European models like several other components.
Re: Air con parts for sale
I had a look at the condenser part number in realoem and bmwfans, unfortunately it is a different part for 2.8 and s50 M Roadsters.. i didn't check the other part #s as I was mostly after just the condenser.
Re: Air con parts for sale
Are u sure? When i was checking my condenser part number realoem said that all Z shared the same part including the M roadster.janijoeli wrote:I had a look at the condenser part number in realoem and bmwfans, unfortunately it is a different part for 2.8 and s50 M Roadsters.. i didn't check the other part #s as I was mostly after just the condenser.

Re: Air con parts for sale
I would agree with Kris...I can't see why an m roadster or coupe would have a different part for what is a "non-performance" and "optional" item. The aircon is there to cool the cockpit...not an M motor....
Re: Air con parts for sale
Well that's weird. Kris, which year(s) did you check? Btw, which month/year is your zed Daz?
I just re-checked 7/1998 (my month/year) and the part numbers definitely differ between 2.8 and M models. However, strangely enough, the part nr for M Roadster is different between sites as well... So something is not right here, or BMW sells the same part with several part numbers.
7/1998 M Roadster
RealOEM:
64539113678
BMWFans:
64538378613
7/1998 2.8
RealOEM:
64538398181
BMWFans:
64538398181
2.8 and M models could have slightly different fixings, compressor location, piping etc, for which reason different condensers could have been used, but this is just a guess. About the different M part number between sites, I have no idea. Where else could we verify the part numbers?
Cheers,
Jani

Re: Air con parts for sale
There is a retrofit kit for aircon for my M44 1.9 and it only fits the M43 and M44 engines, therefore SOME of the parts are different between models - this makes sense as some of the pipes and brackets will have to be a different shape to accommodate the different radiator shrouds and engine blocks.
BMW do use different part numbers over time when one part supercedes another - difference between BMWFans and RealOEM will arise because they are based on different versions of the ETK, so the data is from different periods in time. On BMWFans if you click on a part number in the list view it takes you to part details page which provides both the supercession and usage information. I tried it with the diagram below and many of the parts seem to be common to all Z3s and some to many more models besides.
Evaporator / Expansion valve - BMW parts catalog
You will need to do the same for all the parts being sold if you want to be sure they will fit, though of course some may be "adapted" to fit.
Cheers R.

Re: Air con parts for sale
I browsed further and it seems that this part number fits the S54 engine and not the S50
Re: Air con parts for sale
Ahh that explains.
I had another look at why realoem and bmwfans part nrs for S50 Z3M differ. To wrap this up:
- 678 is the new condenser for E36 M3 and S50 Z3M that replaces 613.
- 181 fits all other Z3 models (including S54 Z3M).
