Hardtop tool(for securing screws at front of Hardtop)

Anyone have the tool for securing the 2 x screws at the front of hardtop ?
Also the rear window demist blanking plate cover.

I use a normal hex fitting in a screwdriver

I wouldn’t worry about getting the proper tool. I assume mine is OEM but it’s only a red T hex tool. I don’t even think it’s branded BMW.
The screws are the special item because of their rubber retaining band. They are £15 ea I think!

Thanks, seems like the simplest solution
Would still like the blanking plate for the HRW switch if anyone has one

The BMW tool is a T40 Torx and is made by WIHA. The Wiha part number used to be 36404020001341. Not sure if this still works. When I bought mine it was about a tenner.

I bought a complete set of security Torx keys from Halfords for £9.99. It looks like the Halfords set is £18 now, but there is a set in B&Q for £8 (

The T40 that you need is part of the set
