Is fuel filter replacement part of a BMW service?

Just spent the last 9 hours under the z3, taking out the gearbox.

Noticed the date code on the fuel filter is 09-98, and the car has full BMW history.

Not according to any of my service sheets: http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10538

Air filter and plugs are, but fuel filter does not appear to be. Not sure how dirty they get with modern cars, but I the one in my frog was replaced last year because it was filthy, but that could be more to do with fuel sitting in the tank for long periods in its past.

Cheers R.

My indie change mine on my recent inspection II but I did point out that the car had been runing unevenly, the filter must have been quite old or I might have a problem but will find out when he rechecks it with next months MOT
