Well guys after 2 years and 4 months of Z3 ownership I will be moving on to pastures new. I have enjoyed every minute of owning my Z3 but I have recently had the bug to change and after looking around for something that will satisfy my need for speed and do it in style I have put a deposit down on a Jaguar S-Type R. For those that don't know these have a 4.2L supercharged engine with 400bhp and 400lbft torque and are simply awesome to drive if what something different to the Z3 !

All of you have been fantastic over the years and I have loved the outings and I am sure I will still see you at various events through next year. Many thanks to all those who have helped me solve the various problems we all experience from time to time but please be rest assured I am not leaving this forum and will still contribute as much as I can in the future.

Keep an eye out in the stock exchange as I will be putting a few things up for sale including my hardtop with fitting kit, coverbag, and stand plus a few other bits and pieces I have collected over the last couple of years.

All the best and bon voyage but still here if you get my drift.

Aceman, good luck with your new motor :D

I think its the same engine as was fitted to the Range Rover which was fantastic but good luck with the fuel bills (I used to average 14mpg  )

You trading in the Z or selling private ?

Thanks Jon,

Traded the Z in got a reasonable price and with the money I will make on selling all the bits and pieces it will work out quite well.

Now what you mean with the fuel bill especially for the first couple of months until the grin wears off my face :D although fuel has never been too much of an issue for me as I only do around 5k a year and use the wifes scenic for any long trips although the temptation to use the STR will be hard to resist.

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

Hi Stu,

You must have had a heads up that I was changing as I had a for sale sign in the car at Malton last weekend when you parked near me.

Here's a list of what will be up for sale;

Hardtop
Fitting kit for above
Hardtop bag which allows hardtop to be hung up from ceiling
hardtop stand
BMW rear screen blanket

All of the above hope to sell as one to right person but of course open to offers.

I also have;

Full set of BMW staggered 5 spoke alloys with mixed tyres but all with legal tread.
Tonneau cover
Mesh wind deflector
Voyager outdoor tailored Z3 car cover
Alpine 9880R car stereo plus 350BT bluetooth module (IPOD compatable)
Extended leather dashboard binicles (both sides) were cream but recoloured black.
Headlight switch
Centre airvent

I think that's all but may have some other bits laying around I have missed.

Blimey already getting messages for the hardtop !

I will reserve sale of the fitting kit with the hardtop as it is more actractive to sell all the lot together.

Sorry :|

I was waiting for that from someone, well done Tim for getting in first :D

Seriously though if anyone gets chance to have a go in an STR they will soon realise it is not a grandads car, the acceleration is simply brutal.

Don't know my Jags all that well, but if it's anything like these that we raced on a corporate day last year then a pipe and slippers will be the last thing on your mind.

It was a fun day, though the drive back seemed very boring!!

Hi Maurice,

Well if you are all still talking to me I'll still be coming

You know this has got to be one of the hardest car swaps I have had, I have deliberated over it for weeks convincing myself to do it then changing my mind the next. One thing I am sure of is that if I get the chance to own a Z as a second car I will be back for certain.

Aceman - sorry that the Zed is going but the new toy looks good. Now about the leather dashboard binnacles :D Mrs ZC could be interested in the car cover so she can get the Z3 out of the garage and have hers in there instead.

HI Aceman, so you to have bit the bullet. The last time we spoke I mentioned that I was getting an XK. I sold my Zed to an enthusiast and he and wife were very happy with it, I was very sad to see it go, but now im happy with my XK. Jaguar clubs and forums are just like zroadster, very good. I dont miss the top down, or the wind noise with the top up, I can now hear my stereo.

I still turn my head with a big smile when a Zed goes by. Im already contemplating a return to Zeddom, but in a Z4 folding tin top next time. But Ive promised my wife I wont sell the Jag cos she loves it.

Ian, I can only echo the comments from other forum members, really sorry you are no longer a Z owner, as you were (are) a decent bloke and very helpful with members problems. In particular my roof problems when you volunteered coming over to help fix.!

Look forward to seeing pics of the Jag-they are a fantastic looking car and I can see the attraction -fantastic lines and engine to die for.

Hope to see you around early next year-keep smiling :)
