Z3m

Post by steve01 »

Do SACH do rear shocks for the z3M and any idea on part numbers,.

I am seen some 556 214 - i am told these would fit but am not convinced that these would mirror the standard setup of the suspension for the rest of the car.

Any ideas

BTW its a 1998 model 3.2 M roadster

Cheers

I always appreciate the help of those knowledgeable

I'd be surprised if that SACHs shock suits the Z3M. That was the catalogue SACHs for my 1.9, a car which is a lot lighter than yours, has less than half the BHP and has a anti-roll bar of 14mm as opposed to your 18.5mm.

Realoem.com also gives the 1998 Z3M rear shock a different part number to the 1998 1.9s and 2.8s (which are the same). I'm not sure what the aftermarket equivalent is for your Z3M - I have seen the Bilstein B4 mentioned previously on this forum.

If it were me, I would check carefully with a Bilstein stockist and/or current Bilstein catalogue. I suspect the recommendation for a Z3M with standard height suspension MIGHT be the B6. More expensive than SACHs but still less than half the price of a Porsche Boxter shock absorber :D

Hey gazza

Does that mean that this art is the same set up as my standard shocks or does it mean that they are standard for a lower power z3

Same make but different spec.

My shocks are part No. 33522693756 which shows as Z3M only.
