Why not close your 2008 trackday season at the BMW Car Club's 'Oktobercoft' at Croft Circuit on Friday, 17th October 2008.

£150
Open Pit Lane
Instructors

In fact it's the full monty, just like our annual July event but better.. I am restricting the entry to just 50 cars so there will be masses of tracktime and absolutely no waiting or queueing to get out.

I'll get the chuckwagon again to do the bacon butties and let Barry know at the Chequers that we will all be wanting a pub lunch.

What are you waiting for.. get in touch now!

Nick this might be a daft question but what does an open pit lane mean?
Does it mean you can use it for repairs but you have to do them yourself?
You know I feel daft just typing that out.

Open Pitlane is where there are no session on the track. Some trackdays do session split into novice, intermediate and advance for example - so you get a 20 min slot every hour for instance. Open means you go out and in when you want. Makes for a more relaxed day and usually more track time.

the pits are usually open for use at these events.

I managed to go to the last one and I can say this format was very friendly. You can come and go as you please and no pressure to get out there, or stay out when you should be sipping coffee.

Give it a go!

I'm interested! Is this definitely open pitlane as it's unusual for Croft to allow this format due to noise contraints?

I'm interested but is there any option of a half day sesh? I found anything more than 2-3 hours pretty tiring as well as been 'tyreing'. i.e. where has all the rubber from my front tyres gone :D

I'd be up for a half day.

Don't do half days.. I'm afraid it's all or nowt!

However there is always the chance of an hour or two in the afternoon as people tire and retire.. but no promises.

Yes.. open pitlane - as always!

We have yet to exceed our 'noise allowance' as it is recorded cumulatively - and the local council that enforces such things knows us well and respects the fact that we keep it down.

This is one of the reasons why I am so selective about who comes. All of our cars even a race prepped CSL are quiet compared with some of the Porsches and TVR's that use Croft.

Our first Oktobercroft trackday last October came about because Croft Circuit had exhausted all there 'noisy' day quotas.. most commercial operators would not be able to come under the requirement and still make a proft as the number of cars allowed out at any one time would be reduced accordingly.. we on the other hand could run our normal day without penalty.

The relationship we have with Croft Circuit is truly unique in the track day industry.. and it shows. The BMW Car Club event at Croft is the best track day in the country - period.

Hope you can come and join us.

Thanks for explaining the open pit lane thing, it all makes sense now.
I was totally off the mark with what I thought it was

As much as I'd really love to have a go, I'd be far to scared that I'd wrap my car into something or somebody and I can't afford injury, I'm off to Sorrento a few days later :D

*thoughts of being the next Michelle Mouton of the circuit world, runs through head*

hmmmm.......no, it's no good I'd probably kill my engine too :shake:

Actually cheques are still best for me.

Unless you have a habit of crashing out on the open road you won't crash on the circuit.. it's not a race.

..most BMW's return home after a track session with a more responsive engine than before.. it actually does them good once in a while

..I'll say. My M was absolutely flying after my last sesh at croft. Must be the high temps that burn all the deposits off and give the VANOS a good exercise!

If two of us got together and one did am and the other pm (ie just swap the wristband across), would this be OK? That way you still get the money for a full day sesh.

The roads/driving on the Yorkshire run back in March were a lot more risky than a trackday!

Go on then - with one provision... you bring something decent for my raffle.
Unlike most other track days you could ever go on we are still very much club orientated. We have a raffle at each event and the proceeds go towards the deposit on the next one. The prizes on the table are all donations from the guys that come along.. with one notable exception - the star prize is a free entry to our next Croft track day. We managed to raise a record £429 back in July.. which is not half bad when you consider we only sell the the tickets on the day.

To get your entry form you need to e-mail me at sykehouse@hotmail.com
and you also need to hurry up - I have less than 20 places left.
Places are not secure until they are paid for.. I have been let down once too often by people from promise land.

Hope a few more of you Zeds can come.

Thanks for reading

Hi Nick

My boss has decided to be very nice to me, so the car's now taxed and road legal again.

Just need to get some new front pads fitted and bedded in beforehand. DEFINITELY NOT running out of brakes again!

Can I give you a cheque/card on the day?

I have you down as 'cash on the day', but a card will be fine - we will just need to nip next door into the office at some stage in the day and put your card through the terminal.
