Harewood'09 - Concours of the North - June 21st
Part of the Fathers Day Harewood Vintage and Classic Vehicle Rally.
This will be the venue for 2009 BMW Car Club North East Region 'Concours of the North'.
We have booked a huge 200 car stand and would like to invite you all to come along and join us. You don't need to be showing your car in the concours to come and park your BMW on our stand.. and it's a much cheaper way of enjoying the show - tickets are £5 per car, full payable on the day to Andymac or myself - we have bought 200 and will give them out on the day, first come first served.
This is a fantastic day out and one not to be missed, so pack up that picnic hamper and come to Harewood House near Leeds.

No names - no pack drill.myredzed wrote:

We'll have a man on the gates handing out the tickets for the first hour or so on a first come first served basis. If or when the stand is full it will have to be the public parking and the regular entrance fee.. so try to come early please.

Ah there is the problem, I do not know that area at all. Ideally it would be somewhere 4-5 miles away that is easy to find on a major trunk road with parking (supermarket/services (which wll be open to serve coffee) etc...)myredzed wrote:......

I'm sure there will be quite a few of us up for this including some locals who can advise.
Best bet is to agree a location to meet and then agree a time dependant on distance / how early we want to be. (I can see a line of Z's waiting for the gates to be open fighting off all the 3 & 5's )
Its gonna be cool
Possible meeting place for those coming from the south could be Ferrybridge services (M62/A1(M) junction). Not to far from there to Harewood - up the A1 to Wetherby then across through Collingham. An alternative would be the riverside car park in Wetherby.

Ferrybridge services seems convenient and is easily accessible. How about if we meet up at 8am, say hello and grab a coffee and then aim to leave at 8:30 for Harewood? Would this give us enough time to be knocking on the door of Harewood at 9am?Zed Carer wrote:Possible meeting place for those coming from the south could be Ferrybridge services (M62/A1(M) junction). I think we're ok for this now. Another run out on Saturday planned, so it'll be a very busy weekend.myredzed wrote:Ferrybridge services seems convenient and is easily accessible. See posts above re suggested times to meet as a guide.PORTMYSTER wrote:Hi everyone I am interested in meeting everyone for the Harewood day, has anyone pre booked any tickets or are everyone buying them on the day.
Usually people will confirm thier intention to attend a few days before on an event like this and times / location to meet up before will also be confirmed.
Then its just about turning up on the day, there will be an agreed leave time from the meet point and all who are there at that time will leave in convoy , others will go striaght there
I think with tickets on this one we are hoping to be in the 200 that can get in for £5, if not we will have to pay normal price and use normal car park. (Thats why we are meeting early to get there before the gates open )
So look out for posts a few days before which will confirm meeting times for those wanting to join a convoy of Z's

Assuming that meeting at Ferrybridge from 8am is still OK do people traveling from further North / East want to go straight to Harewood, or arrange a meeting point just south of Wetherby where we can all join up? If there is a 2nd meeting point then it might be prudent to leave Ferrybridge by 8:25.Usually people will confirm thier intention to attend a few days before on an event like this and times / location to meet up before will also be confirmed.

If you've not been to Ferrybridge before its a sharp left as soon as you enter to go round past the travel lodge to the car park - seen lots of people suddenly braking as its not that well signed. I'll try and get there early and park in a clear bit of the car park - will probably be in the Z4.
Yes I am very local - about 5 mins from Ferrybridge and have been to Harewood quite a few times for various events. Hopefully there will a few other locals to make sure that nobody gets lost - its quite straightforward really.zedcarer - are you happy to lead us from Ferrybridge to Harewood? Sounds like you're a local

Anyone else?
Come and join us.. I can't imagine anything better really, it's always the best show of the season and this year the British GP is on a big outdoor screen for us all to watch - as well as all the other car stuff going on.
Don't park in the public area - arrive early enough and come and park on the BMW stand, we have room for 200 and will be on the gate with the tickets until they are all gone.

I was in the same position last year but as it was such a nice day drove there the long way and parked in the public car park. Still a good day out and a chance to meet others. My Z3 is still far from perfect but it will coming out this year as "work in progress". Only using the Z4 for Harewood as I'm recovering from a broken wrist and its a much easier gear change.not sure, car isnt finished like i'd hoped so i mite give this one a miss

Reading through the above posts seems confirmed as follows for those wanting to meet up first and convoy in
8.00am for 8.30am set off to arrive at Harewood House 9am ish
Meet Ferrybridge services J33 M62 /A1(M) junction which is 24 miles (39min on AA route planner). So will have to leave at 8.30am sharp and we should be in the first 200 BMW's as exhibitors are open from 9am (well Nick will be stood at the gate from 9am handing out tickets in return for a crisp £5 note ) Public entry is from 10am.
Looking forward to it, will hopefully have x2 ///M roadsters (Z3 & Z4)

jonttt thanks for putting the map up - had to go looking at furniture this morning, then lunch on the way home so didn't get to start washing the car until 3pm. Looks like there will be quite a few of us at Ferrybridge - hope that the girls in Costa are bit quicker than normal.
