Too darned right! I do feel a little wary spending so much on her at the moment. We've had around 50 redundancies at work recently which is rather unsettling.

But I shouldn't have too much problem selling off the parts should the worst happen.

Looking good :) have you thought about getting the bolsters & blue bits retrimmed in red? I don't think it will cost too much! that way you get your red seats and sort out the worn bolsters in one!

Managed to get them fitted tonight before the darkness set in! I am so chuffed with them, they make a huge difference to the interior and are so comfy.

I will have to get them refurbed at some stage, and the drivers seat has the dreaded rock. I already bought a set of Acemans seat bushes, so will take the drivers side out and fit them soon.

Airbag light came on despite following instructions on here, sods law I guess.

Old and new...!

Thanks for the offer, but just a little too far for me :bawl: Why are all the good runs so far north...

I've ordered a Bavarian Dominator reset tool so hopefully it should be here in a couple of days... Think it may be a useful gizmo to have any way and it was only £40...

Will do a write up when it arrives, assuming it works. Had a couple of mentions on here, so fingers crossed.

Gookah reset my airbag light last night with the same one, took a few tries to get it to work but managed it fine in the end. Haven't a clue why it come on, the code read voltage supply or something :?

Cars looking great by the way :D

This I like to think of as Ore-gone :D Got an hour this evening to fit the smooth leather door cards. They also have the leather handles. A couple of scuffs on them, but will sort them when I get the seats bolsters sorted.

Looks so much nicer than the original dotty Oregon...

So, time to tackle the air bag light with my new Bavarian Dominator B800.

It comes supplied with both the OBDII and round connector for under the bonnet. Tried the ODBII socket under the dash, but it doesn't like that, so on with the adaptor and into the round socket in the engine bay.

Scanning for the fault it came back with...

> Seat belt buckle switch passenger
> Seat occupancy detector, passenger, coding data

Tried a reset, but made no change - same codes. Out with the seat it was then.

With the seat leaning forward so I could access the wiring, I disconnected/reconnected everything.

Plugged the scanner in and it removed the fault for "Seat belt buckle switch passenger", but not both.

Much head scratching, and then went to have a look at the old seat and realised that the new seat didn't have a Seat occupancy sensor installed :head: So I took the one of my old seat and fitted to the M seat.

Plugged the scanner in again, and fault cleared and airbag light now off!

So basically I was a complete numpty, and didn't notice I hadn't plugged all the connectors in when fitting the seat!

Still, the Bavarian Dominator was well worth the £40 in this case.

I am in total agreement with the cost of bits / spending on the car.

However I am very luck that I have a lovely lady who just enjoys going out in the car and does't really notice anything that has been done.

It was 2 months before she realised I had 2 black Jags... would have got away with it longer but she saw them parked up together at my Mums one day and I was rumbled!!

Cheers :thumb:

The chrome gear knob in my car was always tatty, and I had to glue the plastic top back on. Been looking at getting a better, shorter knob for some time and settled on the Clubsport shorter, heavy version.

Also the exhaust tips were shot when I bought the car, so have had my bare pipes on display for the last year. D-reame was selling some large tips for a great price, so I bought them.

A little bigger than I was expecting, but I think they look great.

Cheer beemz!

The knob came from Cotswold BMW through eBay £46.99 delivered. It's about an inch shorter and weighs about 3 times as much as the original (at a rough guess)

Several people on here have one fitted.

It's not illuminated. Was tempted by one, but couldn't justify the price difference for a genuine one. Paying £46.99 made me cry a little as it was, but you can't get your hands on a decent cheap knob these days

Been spending a fortune on cleaning stuff. Mainly for the Cooper as that has only been washed twice in 6 months. Thought it would be rude not to try some out on the Zed while I'm at it!

As well as a load of microfibres...
Meguiars smooth clay kit
Mequiars ultimate quik wax (free with the clay kit)
Sonax Xtreme wheel cleaner
Autoglym intensive tar remover
Collinite 476
Fabsil tent proofer

Image

The Zed doesn't need claying at the moment as she had a full detail by The Shine Factory a while ago. Still smooth as a babies botty.

After sorting the wheels with the Sonax Xtreme, she got a going over with Meguiars Ultimate wash+wax. The Sonax is really impressive on the Zed wheels as they were refurbed a year ago. Had to order something a bit stronger for the Cooper as they are plastered with iron deposits (and corroding badly for 4 year old wheels  )

Then a quick coat with the Quik Wax. This is a spray on/wipe off wax, and took about 3 minutes to do the whole car! Definitely getting some more of this.

This post should have been all about fitting the Simota induction kit, but thats still sat in the cardboard box. Simota have decided to supply the wrong bits, so waiting on a delivery from the US with the correct bits :head:

So, to console me I bought a refurbished steering wheel!! See thread below for supplier details...

Finally got down the post office to collect my heated seat switches. All the way from Zionsville, Indiana! £15 each, £20 postage and £17 customs charge. Still cheaper than just one from BMW 5 miles down the road 8-)

Took them out for a quick test drive, and very nice.... :drive

Image

After much removal of dashboard and skin from my knuckles, eventually managed to find the wiring connectors. For some reason they were looped around another part of the loom as far away from the holes as possible :head:

Fitted! Just need to move the roof switch to the spare hole - I hate blanking panels!!

@ Fender. I took the gear gaiter out, the stereo, then finally removed some of the side paneling under the dashboard. Eventually performed a 'James Herriot' and pushed my arm in and grabbed at any loose cable I could feel. Took me about 30 mins to find them in the end - it was not obvious where they were at all.

@ Liam. I've had heated leather seats before, but they were no where near as good as these ///M seats! I can see them getting some use this winter, along with my tartan deer stalker :D

Things to do tomorrow...

1. Get exhaust fitted!

2. Go for long drive to "test" exhaust

3. Get these fitted (courtesy of Naeem!)

Image

4. Investigate moving roof switch to front panel.

5. Go for long drive to "test" exhaust (again)

Just better not rain!

coming along nicely! - have you thought about getting the Matt chrome hockey sticks to go with the rest of the dash? they're about £75 each from BMW - part numbers below:

I want to match the hockeys at some stage. Unfortunately with a large outlay on parts already this month (about £650 so far), it's looking like next year before I can buy anything else. It's either that, or I can't afford petrol...

As a cheaper alternative, I may look to see if I can find someone to spray the hockeys on my spare set of door cards. May even give it a go myself...

I'll check back for updates as I reckon it'll look mint when done! - the only slight gripe about the majority of Z3 interiors is the sea of black most of them have.
