Where in NM are you? Since I am only one (large) state west of you, it would be great fun to get our Z1's together sometime! Did you import it yourself or did you buy from someone that already went through that hassle?

Jeffs Z1 in NM
Hello Ben,
I am in Alamogordo, NM. I will most likely be running through AZ to California in August 2010. I may have my Z1 shipped to Pebble Beach for the Concours and then drive it back. It would be good to have contacts along the way. I bought my Z1 from a family in Georgia at an Estate sale. The car needed a few minor things, but now runs strong. This car was brought into the USA in 1992, well before the Show and Display rules. It also had a movie spot in the movie Miami Rhapsody back in 1995. Do you know anyone with the repair DVD from 2007? I am trying to get the Z1 specific DVD. Currently, I do my own maintenance on a part by part basis. Do you have an idea on how many Z1s are in the USA? I heard there were about 8.
I usually drive this every other day as we have tons of Sun.
Take Care.

Re: Jeffs Z1 in NM
Interesting history on your car, Jeff. I was unaware that any Z1's were legally imported to the US prior to the show & display exemption taking effect. Maybe the movie ties allowed it in and it just never left the country?new mexico z1 wrote: I am in Alamogordo, NM. I will most likely be running through AZ to California in August 2010. There are many more than 8 here in the US. An exact count is uncertain, but it is likely in the dozens. The ones I am aware of are mostly concentrated in larger cities--LA, Dallas, Miami, Chicago, Denver to name a few.
If your travels take you on I-10 through Tucson, we should get together. Although if you are driving back from CA in August, I would recommend a more northerly route since you have no air conditioning in that car!
I am planning to take my Z1 to Albuquerque in May 2010 for their little car show (usually Memorial Day weekend). It's not Pebble Beach, but would be really cool to have two Z1's drive in together!

Following my promise to Jet, I am posting pictures of my zettie. It has chassis No. AL 04946 is in top red color and has been bought in Italy in 1994. Since then covered 69 kkm and is in perfect condition. Only mod before me was power kill switch. I have got it on 24th of December last year and since then been bringing it to top condition. Now it spends time at workshop where LSD is being fitted (keeping gearing in OEM ratio). That and those unbelievable remote doors are the only modifications planned, but since talking to Jet you never know what will follow
Photos together with my M Coupe and alone.

Wow, that was not the best experience. I just hope next time you will be careful and enjoy your stay there. It's pretty nice small country, especially sea shore is beautiful and Vilnius with it's one of the biggest old towns in Europe . We even got 3 zetties, all of them in redRacingTeatray wrote:Welcome. The only time I drove to Lithuania, I managed to fill my car with diesel (d'oh) near Mariampole and had to spent 24 hrs in Kaunas whilst it was repaired. Mercifully it wasn't my Z1!
