Haven't got one but looks quite neat, but puzzled where it would fit in the boot?

As far as I know this will only fit the pre-facelift models.

After the facelift aparently they moved the location of the bootlid stop light and at the same time altered the inside.

Got this info from a US Z3 forum so can only assume they were correct.

All I have is what I was told on that other forum, so it may be worth waiting to see if anybody knows if it can definitely be fitted to facelift models before you give up completely :-)

But I don't think they are cheap enough to just go out and buy one to test it though either.

Off topic, but what 1.9 did they use in the later models? Is it the M43 that came in 1.8 and 1.9 flavours?

Or did they ever used the N42 same as the one in 4-cylinder 3-series from approx 2001 on.

They used the M43 (M43TU) engine in the 1.8. The M44B19 was used in the earlier 1.9 which had more bhp on tap - 140 VS 118 in the later engine.

In the e46 3er, the M43TU was used in the 316i until 2001 while the 316i post 2001 - 2005 was powered by the N42 unit. It was also the N42 unit that powered the 318i post 2001 as well.

Use the Search button before posting newbie questions about hard tops and fitting kits, footwell speaker amps, water in the boot, hood maintainance and those horrific angel eyes. We get like 10 threads a week on the same subject, it's obvious that you haven't searched.

I thought that was a £2.99 direct from China on ebay thing, but it's actually pretty neat as it acts as a boot linet for free.
