Quick one please. Fuel pump

Post by illmonkey »

The Z is in the garage and I've been told the conductor is in the tank. So I need a new pump etc. Total cost £450.

I'm going to get charged for labour anyway. But just because the levels come off, does it mean it cant be fished out and reattached?

Pump

£540 seems rather steep, as the entire pump/level sensor only costs about £150. If the fuel tank is alsmost empty, replacement should not take more than a couple of hours - probably less.

And - yes - the float should not be a problem to reattach, although it should never have come off in the first place. Anyway - how do you know it has come off?

It's £440, not £540.

I checked the part, I got a quote ( with E30zone discount) and it was £225, the garage was then going to charge for 2 hours as he's already taken it all apart and needs to put it back together.

I figured I would save about £80 if I paid him and got the part my self, but then i'd need to take it all apart again.
