Funny you should mention prices, I was in Tunbridge Wells Cooper BMW yesterday getting some bits and in the showroom was a '56 reg Z4M advertised at £15480. I thought mmmm........if only, I didnt think it was a bad price - it was stunning. I had a walk about and picked up my items from the parts desk and on the way out the sales guy was changing the price on the Z4M - to £13980! Thats £1500 off in the 20 minutes I was in there......

So not sure on the answer to your original question!!

Hi Steve, I've heard Z4M prices are dipping quite quickly now especially the coupe. The Z3M above has been for sale quite some time now and isn't shifting which surpised me why the seller suddenly upped the asking price by a grand.

I hope they go up in the next week, it might help my claim and prevent my MLC being a write off

I was watching as kinda hoping the price would have fallen, if it had I would have gone for it with that mileage  Maybe the seller has realised it was too cheap?

In February I paid £6500 for my Z3 and tentatively looked at Z4's which were out of my price range. Now on Pistonheads there are dozens!

Maybe he's put it up in price so that when unsuspecting buyers go to have a look he can cut a few hundred quid off it and they think they have a deal.

It is quite a common trick by traders who cannot shift cars to up the price for a couple of weeks as you tend to draw in other people who are looking for cars in the next price bracket. It tends to only work on people who don't do any research beforehand and are more impulse buyers but it does work occasionally as they have nothing to lose.

Tim I would be tempted to give him a ring and let him know you have seen it at the lower price or just hang on for another couple of weeks as he will probably drop it again maybe to a new lower price.

I had a Mitsi Padjero for sale a few years back at £4000, was getting offers at £3200 so I raised it to £4500 and sold it for £4100 :D :D

Having bought/sold cars recently I feel that certain sought after cars are still holding their price reasonably well.

The last car I sold was my 1999 Honda Integra Type R with 57k FSH in red. It had fading red paint (Honda's fault) but other than that was totally mint. It fetched £5k although I first advertised it at £5500 but after 4 weeks of waiting I chose £5200 before finally giving in to £5k.

Then again seliing any car can be hard unless you price it to sell. For instance, if you had a Ford Mondeo they are so plentiful you can afford to be really fussy so to make yours stand out it'll have to be mint and cheap.

Come next year my '99 MR2 mk2 Rev 5 will be going on the market for £2500. Half the price of my old Integra.
A great buy in my opinion. :)

Whereabouts are you in the UK?
Dark Purple = Cosmos Blue?
Cosmos Blue is like a Blue/Purple hue. Gleams purple in bright sunshine and dark blue under certain lights like Petrol Station forecourts.
Dark Purple might be a custom paint job though.

I'm down in Essex (innit!)... And I'm sure it's the stock colour. Just googled it and 100% is cosmos blue. It's a stunning colour and the paintwork is just flawless (without gawping too much and being chased off!) :D

Price is determined by condition, and how much someone will pay for it.

(how much it excites them, how much they want it, and how much money they have and are prepared to spend)

That's true ^^^
Geographical location plays a part too.
Cars for sale in the Highlands of Scotland or in the Southwest - Cornwall, usuallysell for less because they need to tempt people from further afield and of course the less populous a location is the smaller the target audience will be.

Having looked at that advert, £8k and 41k miles is a bargain in my opinion. 8-)

Hi.
I have been loking around for a z3m and have seen one on advertised at oxford german car specialists,
Estoril blue specified as "mint" with 75000 on the clock for nearly £8000
Does anyone know this car? Thinking of taking a look over the weekend and would appreciate some info before.
If its good i will put mine up as p/x.
