Help re choice change of steering wheel

I have a m type steering wheel on my z3 which I find a bit thin is it possible to change for thicker rim from another Bmw and which model would it be ? Is a mtye from a m36 m type any thicker? I drove my sons z4 this weekend and the steering wheel is twice as thick it started me thinking <dangerous>.

Just have your wheel covered in leather over it's existing covering. That will thicken it up. by around 5mm. You can even tell the trimmer how thick you want it, and have the bulking material on the inside of the arc, so that the wheel doen't get much larger in actual diameter.
