Howdy Folks,
Any top tips appreciated, this may seem somewhat trivial however its driving me bonkers! - i,ve recently tried topend Bosch wipers, mid price Halfords wipers and bottom end £1 shop wipers all with the same problem, the juddering across the windscreen is unbearable. The problem is there with or without screen cleaner in the tank and ive tried glass cleaner, washing up liquid, car shampoo, with no improvement. Other than this very happy indeed to be sat behind the wheel of my Z3!
Regards All, Jeremy.

Re: windscreen wipers juddering.
This is mostly caused by the pressure on the wiper blade which is applied by the wiper arm. If its too great the blade squashes against the screen too much and prevents the wiper bit of the blade from flicking over on the return wipe, causing the blade to judder against the screen. You can lessen the pressure on the wiper blade by carefully bending the wiper arm just below where the blade attaches away from the screen thereby reducing pressure on the wiper blade. It's a case of trial and error to find the right amount of pressure in order to resolve it.
I remember reading once it was the most common complaint for Mercedes Benz owners come servicing time, so much so that Mercedes went to the trouble of finding the correct pressure to stop it happening........What that pressure was I never found out...... So your in good company.

Lord Helpus!!
That sounds spot on to me, thankyou will try this first thing in the morning - subtle tweeking of the wiper arm angle required then! Chances are it,ll be raining - have a good Friday anyway..
All the best, Jeremy.

I had this happen on my very first Zed
And yes the older experienced Bmw mechanic
just slightly bent the arm, and made the newbie mechanics onlookers look stupid

It isn't the pressure which is applied to the screen which is the problem it is merely the angle at which the wiper blade moves across the glass. IF it judders it is because the wipers blade(ei the edge which touches the screen) is NOT at 90 degrees to the glass. This is easily altered by simply twisting the wiper arm with an adjustable spanner just below where the wiper blade meets the arm.
