Looking at a set of Falkens for my 3.0i Z3...
On another thread it's suggested that the ZE912 is discontinued and is now replaced by the ZE914.
Looking at prices the list below gives slightly different specs and prices
FRONTS
Falken Ziex ZE914 225 45 x ZR17 94W for £65.89............which seems cheap and I would have thought the newer model would be dearer?
Falken Ziex ZE912 (same spec as above)......................£73.99!
REARS
Falken Ziex ZE914 245 45 x R17 for £89.69.............no Z before rating?
Falken ZiexZE912 245 45 x ZR17 at a similar sort of price £90.09.
Should I be biting the hand off for Falkens at £65.89 and what difference does the missing 'Z' mean before the rear tyres rating?
Falken Tyres...advice?
Re: Falken Tyres...advice?
Just put 912 on rear and pleased with them. Fronts next week after new bushes done. These are replacing 912s which were great. I'm pleased and were cheaper than 912s 3 years ago.

Re: Falken Tyres...advice?
I have FK-453 on my 2.8, mized with an almost-new FK-452 on the RH rear.
They mix perfectly, the only real difference being that the 453 is a lot quieter - but would be useless in snow, due to the lack of any real lateral tread pattern - no V-shaped grooves as on the earlier FK tyres.

A Z3 is not just for Christmas - it's for life!
Re: Falken Tyres...advice?
My experience of directional tyres on 3 very different vehicles and using F1s,452s, Kuhmo and Vederstein is that they can cause or exacerbate tramlining. Our Zed handles well with no vices on Ze912s.The cars were originally sold with Continental or Dunlop before directionals were created.
Re: Falken Tyres...advice?
I've got 453's on my 2.8 rear because quite a few recommended them including MF, and so far no problems. Need to replace the Yokohama fronts soon, so will probably stick with the 453's. (It won't see snow, the E91 deals with that rubbish!)

It's what tyres you fit up front that make the greatest contribution to tramlining.
