Name THAT part!!

Post by Z3 Mark » Fri 28 Nov, 2014 11:27

A good majority of my posts (including this one) have me essentially just asking what a part is called, is there something like a haynes manual that I can buy to at least give me some of the basics as sooner or later I'm going to be banned for asking stupid questions! :dunce: :bawl:

I tried my hardest and have found http://realoem.com/bmw/select.do which is helpful, but can't help thinking that an actual book would be better as it would make a nice Christmas present from someone and I could learn parts in bed :D

Anyway I also want to know if this pipe:

is hot or cold under operation, as I have a very light sender unit for some light accessories (see here:http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopi ... =5&t=41927 ) and I'd like to strap the box to that as it would hold the weight well but I don't want to melt anything! I would assume hot as the cool air from the front cools it, as far as I can make out engine oil flows through it... but I have no idea really :dunce:

Hi Mark,
It's the power steering cooling pipe - on RealOEM under "steering" part number 32 41 1 093 638 - if you enter the part number in RealOEM it will take you to the appropriate page.
Is it hot or cold in operation? Well, it may get a little warm when operating the steering whilst parking but most of the time it will be cold.
Hope this helps.
Dave.

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

There is a haynes manual for the E36 3 series which the Z3 is loosely based on or the Bentley Manual for BMW Z3

heres one from the US

Yes, cold - and rusty in my case!
