After my first long run in my z3 (45 miles) i noticed there is quite a lot of wind noise with the top up is this normal? It seems to be comming from the off side top of the hood

Re: wind noise
Wind noise isn't a feature of the Zed. In fact, that's one of the (few) things that motoring journos generally praised about the car. It's quiet with the roof up. Later cars have a roof lining, which added extra insulation (heat retention).
You do get a horrific high pitched noise at speed when it's v windy sometimes. That's caused by tiny gaps around the windscreen seals. Only happens on my Zed extremely rarely, but it did give me fright at first. Thought it was the radio gone wonky. Guys on the forum put me right!
I would check that your roof is mating correctly with all the rubber seals when it's closed. Obvious, but hey that's where I'd start.

Re: wind noise
There are a few adjustments you can make to the softtop if you are getting wind noise. The hooks at the front can be adjusted to pull it against the seal and the windows can be adjusted to make them seal properly as well.

Re: wind noise
I seem to recall there is a post in the knowledge base which may cover the issue of window adjustment and also the "leak" at the top of the windscreen pillar.
