New cam position sensor

Post by Julie Z3 »

As per the title, just got around to fitting the inlet side sensor after doing my usual muppetry and buying the exhaust side by mistake! I know I should have checked on the engine before ordering , looking at the diagram on Real oem the exhaust sensor is positioned to the right so I wrongly assumed that was the inlet.......I'd have thought they would state which part number was for which side sensor?
Anyway we now have two shiny new sensors ,plugged in the laptop, cleared the codes and reset all the adaptions and it's like driving a different car! Always felt it was a bit flat and very hesitant on take off just amazed at the differance she now pulls like a train revs hard through the box (auto) and feels like a proper 3 litre should.

Oh Lordy - this sounds expensive...

How did you know it was knackered?

Had mine done, 2.2cc, showed up as a fault code.

Engine misfired very slightly at low revs.

Also turned over a little too long before starting.

Mine was the inlet cam sensor

Exactly that , always seemed harder to start when warm and just seemed hesitant from a standstill which was pretty scary at times when pulling into a gap on a roundabout for instance only to find she doesn't want to go!
Bought the INPA software and lead from ebay and she kept throwing code 65 which translates to the inlet camshaft sensor and it always came back when cleared, money well spend in the end although I will certainly double check before ordering parts in future

Hi Acoustic Not exactly sure tbh, think it was from BM cables but there are loads available only problem with ours is that the codes are in German so have to do some online translating to work them out !
