Glad you did it - told you it was good stuff
Re: repsintibg leather seats results:
Well, just fitted door card back, repaired vapour barrier, bit of a pig to do, but its pretty much perfect now, however ran out of sealant, need to go buy some more, I bought this Z3 with the intention of selling it, but I wouldn't even consider it now, I LOVE IT!!!
seat bush on passenger seat is next job to tackle ( didn't think they had failed when I did the drivers side, but sadly they have.

Re: Painting leather seats results:
Hahahaha!! that was timing then. Get that barrier in, chances are it is letting water enter the car. WET CARPETS YOU DO NOT WANT!! I JUST HAD ALL MINE OUT AND DRIED THEM.
Its quite a bit of work to do, Fitted my door cards back last night, real pleased with how vapour barriers have gone back, Ive gone 200% on the fitment back to be sure they never come loose. Silicone sprayed the mechanics of the window mechanism's aswell whilst in there.
Nearly there now, jobs left are:
correct paint from doors back ( front done)
bushes on passengers seat
paint drivers seat
car will be done then.

Re: repsintibg leather seats results:
What did you use to put the vapour barrier back? I think it's secured originally with black gunge called butyl. I think that comes in a cartridge for a builder's gun and is used by roofers. Did you strip all the old butyl off the door and foam first. If so what did you used to remove it?kjb1 wrote:Well, just fitted door card back, repaired vapour barrier, bit of a pig to do, but its pretty much perfect now, however ran out of sealant, need to go buy some more, I bought this Z3 with the intention of selling it, but I wouldn't even consider it now, I LOVE IT!!!
Thanks.

Re: Painting leather seats results:
I used a silicone sealant adhesive which remains flexible ( same as original butyl ) just different product. i pulled the worst off with fingers, it peels quite nicely when held with a good grip, in places where i could tell it was still good I left it, cleaned all off the vapour barrier, even cleaned door and barrier with wet wipes to rid the dust etc so surfaces were well prepped for sticking together. went round with the tube over the original in places, then put barrier back, I then used a very expensive silver industrial tape used for extreme temperatures in lagging industry, to tape edges all the way round to be double sure it all stayed together well, used a hair drier to aid adhesive, it is very well fixed. I will have no leaks from this area thats for sure.

Re: Painting leather seats results:
Nice job! You must have one of the few Zs with seatbelt guides not broken.
Boosh.

Re: Painting leather seats results:
They can be replaced reasonably easy - just a PITA to get the leather up off the seat. However, you could always get some seatbelt mods off Southernboy to prempt them ever breaking in the first place.kjb1 wrote:yes! I was quite surprised at that aswell!! ...the hard work has paid off btw.
Re: Painting leather seats results:
Thanks. Could you let me know the exact make/type you used? Might as well do it with something tried and tested! Thanks.kjb1 wrote:I used a silicone sealant adhesive which remains flexible ( same as original butyl ) just different product.
