Z3 Radio

Post by nang »

Got a 1999 2.8 Z3. It goes really well apart from the fact that the radio don't work.
It's a replacement for the original. An Alpine CD player but I'm unable to get any radio stations, ether FM or AM. Still got the little box in the boot which I imagine is part of the original equipment.
The CD part works very well but not the radio side. It seems that the antenna is not doing anything.
Wondering if it's possible to disconnect the present set up and just fit a new aerial and run a new coax straight to the set.
Any thoughts appreciated. I seem to have troubles with any BMW audio stuff that I've had in the past.

Hi Tony

Yes its possible to run a new coax through the car and fit a new aerial.

Have you tried connecting a different aerial to the back of the radio whiles its pulled out and confirm that the aerial is the problem? No use running a new coax if the radio is the problem.
