Respray

Post by k10rgr »

My M is currently in the bodyshop for a full front end respray.
I've been speaking to the owner, I'm contemplating changing the colour from estoril blue to white.
Am I nuts ?
Will it impact on the cars value.
Got till Mon to make my mind up.
I've seen the one on the Leatherz website

Dont do it. To do a proper job you need to paint the back of the doors, boot, undersie of bonnet. That must cost loads. If you do half a job the value is affected. If you want a white car buy one IMHO.

Dont do it -- almost certainly devalue the car. If you want white buy one.
Sapphire black/Imola red and black interior/ red roof/ S54 - the only RHD one made.

DO IT!

as much as I'm a lover of estoril, white on a z3 is sexy as hell. You'll stand out. you'll have a truly unique car in the UK.

yes, it may devalue it...but...but... 8-) 8-) 8-)

Too much hassle I reckon. To do it properly you would have to strip it to a shell otherwise it would ruin the car IMHO.

The money you end up saving by only doing half the car, not stripping it out and fully respraying it, you will lose come sale time IMHO. You may increase your chances of selling it later if it is done correctly as white on a Z3 is rather rare and looks really attractive. Please don't do the half hearted approach. :bawl:

As said only way to do it properly is to strip whole car and ensure evrything that is metal and blue on yours is changed to white.

Lots of hours/labour.

.....................Whatever you decide try to get photos of before and after as many buyers run a mile if they suspect a car has had any paint - convincing themselves any paint to car means it may have been smashed to bits in past.

Only cost effective way to create a white one would be to source a salvage car needing full paint & priced to allow for same & any Insurance CAT Rating that may later devalue.

If mine it would stay blue.

A white Z3 would look very cool but only if done professionally and properly.
