Avoid Coopers Bmw
Had the car taken to BMW coopers Croydon - came back car in a worse driving state along with a puncture. Called and complained says it was my fault- refused liability!
enquired about inspection 2 charges on the coopers website charging 260.00. Says they have no idea and quoted £410.00
AVOID ALL COOPERS!!! BEST is in my opinion value for money is Chandlers. I saved almost £200.00 going to Brighton instead!! LOL..
Customer service dont exist!!

Actualy went in for bodyshop repairs! A lady driver decided to take a small nap whilst driving ended up scraping side of my car along with knocking off my side mirror in the process. The lady driver claimed responsibility and i had a quote from Coopers repairs worth £2.5K.
Took well over two weeks to get this done and on top of it, drove it back misfiring and jerking all the way home 1.5 miles to be exact!! including flat tyre!! naturally, they said the car was in a bad driving state and punctured tyre I received was when i drove back from the dealership. Both liars!! i'll never touch them again or any coopers!!

Coopers quoted £900+ for my Service 2. Banstead was about £600.
In the end I went to GMG Motors http://www.gmgmotors.co.uk/ near Sutton. I would recommend them, they were quick, professional and good value. It's run by a former BMW mechanic who likes to talk about cars.

Well just to level up the playing field.................
I use Batemans BMW in Grange and they have been nothing other than superb whenever I have taken my z there.
They also have a customer loyalty scheme whereby older BMW cars receive 30% discount on labour and 10% discount on parts. (or that may be the other way round cant remember)
I have used them since buying the z and that includes them fitting my full ac schnitzer suspension.
I think though that they may be in the minority. I would recommend them to anyone in my area that has a z.

I will never ever go to HR Owen Holland park/North Acton again. There beyond a joke, and trying to get a refund out of them for there shoddy work or lack of it is a right battle.
I'v never seen a place that shows less respect to a customer and there car than this place.
I have heard from a friend that has a mini that BMW coopers often do a shoddy job. Surprisingly he still goes back, there is no teaching some people.

AHA!! I also spoke with Chandlers in Brighton and they do for 10 year or older cars a whopping 60% discount on labour. Not only it's on their website but I have spoken to then and they said that was correct! I'm not sure if they increase the price of parts to balance out a little??!
What are you thoughts??

Some people love to get charged over the odds for shoddy work so they can have a blue stamp in a book.Michael McGovern wrote:I have heard from a friend that has a mini that BMW coopers often do a shoddy job. Surprisingly he still goes back, there is no teaching some people.
I'd rather have quality work done at a local indy and a service history that amounts to more than a few crosses in a box proving you've been bent over on a regular basis for oil changes.
Use the Search button before posting newbie questions about hard tops and fitting kits, footwell speaker amps, water in the boot, hood maintainance and those horrific angel eyes. We get like 10 threads a week on the same subject, it's obvious that you haven't searched.

I think we should have a name and shame BWM dealerships in this forum highlighting their experience! people have a good idea of what their local BMW dealers get up to. And also praise these dealers when they actualy do a good job. Maybe we can make a difference!!!!!!!
With regard to my problem, I complained to the head office about Coopers but I felt hes taking their side of the story rather than mine! So frustrating!!!

Think its a good idea to rate garages, name and shame is not such a good idea...there are people out there that will say a garage is bad following a disagreement between them and the garage, I don`t believe the customer is "always" right!!
This website http://www.goodgaragescheme.co.uk/ is a great example of how it is done properly, i found a local independant (not BMW) but he was fantastic, all his feedback was positve, and it gives you some confidence in where your going!
If anyone has the skills and could do something like this for BMW dealerships and Independants think they would be onto a winner!!

I have when it used to be Altwoods.skeete wrote:Mines due a service very soon,
Anyone had experience of Stratstone in Maidenhead?
How about 2 day old Z3 gets a puncture, i take it to local tyre place and they find its FULL OF BLOODY TYRE WELD
Altwoods would not admit it but i got a new tyre off them for nothing.
How about a few weeks later same car goes in for a replacement inner door handle under warranty.
Comes out with £500 worth of damage because the technician got the arse and kicked the fook out of the door card, glove box and a few other bits.
You could even see the outline of his size 10's in the doorcard and speaker grille.
Altwoods admitted that one and replaced all the damaged parts.
Never used them since.
The independent that I use near York is registered with this scheme.**Z3** wrote:This website http://www.goodgaragescheme.co.uk/ is a great example of how it is done properly, i found a local independant (not BMW) but he was fantastic, all his feedback was positve, and it gives you some confidence in where your going!
All the feedback forms and comments are processed by a neutral party and the results (warts and all) published on their website.
Well I'm going to praise BMW dealer Knights of South Staffs, always found them to be excellent and look after your car when its in for work.
I had a Diesel Particulator Filter Fault on the 1er whilst driving home last Monday, gave them a bell and they took the car straight in. Unfortunately the filter was faulty so kept the car in on Tues, they had to order the part and all done by the time I left work, no fuss or drama and gave me lifts to and from work. Can't say fairer than that.
Tim.

It sounds like your dealer still has the personal touch
thats how they used to be
before these corporate companies took them over ie coopers
i was told there main company had nothing to do with cars
there main concern is money money and takeovers
customer welbeing went out of the window
thats what the world is coming to
Good start to the day lol

They still take your money come service time I've had a couple of motors from Knights, their aftersales has always been good then strayed and went to Peugeot then Vauxhall, enough said, apart from having problems with the cars themselves, their treatment of customers i.e. me and of the car when it was in for warranty work was very poor. Biggest bugbear is collecting the car and finding scratches, kerbed alloys or grease around the interior etc, reason I went back to BMW. Swings and roundabouts really, not all BMW dealers are the same but if you find a good one then its good enough for me to keep going back.Boysie wrote:Tim

I must admit I was put off when I phoned to ask about a replacement rear plastic screen and the woman said I would need a whole new roof, mechanism and everything at a cost of £2500. I just thought it was her being dappy.
Think I may shop around a little and take a goosey at the goodgarage website.
Cheers for the heads up.

I feel your pain. I was subjected to Croydon for two days this week, including the shopping centres as we had to go and forage for some lunch. There is nothing in Croydon a couple of atomic bombs wouldn't improve the look of.dineshee28 wrote:got to spend two hours in Croydon Shopping centre!

Finaly i have decided to give Munich Legends ago (independent BMW dealer) this is the first time i'm using any garage outside BMW dealership circle since i had my z3(8 years). Handed in my car to get the repairs done so far theyr are freindly and very flexible trying their best to give customer best value for money.

Heating Thermostat replacing (very little heat)
rear Brakes need replacing
Third brakelight need cealing
a couple of other bits and bobs
Car is with them at the moment so will let you guys know how I got on!

I think we should have a new catagory instead of individual posts.
Otherwise these get lost over time/years!!
Catagory should be called "BMW dealers and Indis and garage experiences"
This is so important as a lot of people are so naive into thinking that they are paying value for money! infact might be cheaper if you go accross to other franchises or indies be better deal and peace of mind knowing your car is well lokked after.

So this one is somehow not good enough for you then?dineshee28 wrote:I think we should have a new catagory instead of individual posts.

Just writing to let you know how I got on at Munch legends reparing all the bits I mentioned earlier. It was was apparent I needed a new ABS pump which would have cost me around £800.00 but instead Munich Legends and I both phoned a number of breakers around UK to find a second hand. To our luck we managed to get a ABS pump unit for £100.00 which was great!
All the repairs and the cost of unit in total came to £573.0 which was not too bad considering I had a lot of parts to fit in. Total labour was around 4 hours which amount to £200.00 . All in all a very good experience and for once my car came back in one peace without any more troubles. The car performed really well after all the reparis done to it. I can recommend Munich legends if you need anything repaired or serviced. A nice freindly bunch of guys!!
I even had a close look at the bosses M1!!
