Neither of mine will be SORNed - still some nice days for top down driving in the winter for the frog and the zed will be getting its bonnet on so it can go out in all weathers in another month or so.
Cheers R.

Arctic Silver '99 Z3 1.9 & Black '59 Frogeye 1275cc
My M will be SORN'ed, the fiancee's Z3 will be in constant use, (and january and february it will have the hardtop fitted)
Z3 2.8 Progress Journal (Mine)
Z3 1.9 Sport Progress Journal (Wifey's)
I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..
Won't be able to do that with a ///M as they need to run for 10 miles or so to get the oil up to temperature - unless of course you extend the drive 'TitanTim wrote:Mine isn't sorned as I like to drive the Zed out the garage to the top of the drive and back in again If the Zed is lucky I may remove the dust sheet
Tim.
Mines not SORN'ed - just finally agreed my finishing date at work so from 28th October I'll be free every dry day there is to take the Z3 out. '
Just need to persuade Mrs ZC that she should be more economical now and use the Citroen for work and I'll look after her Z4 whilst she's at work.

Mine will never be SORNd while I can afford to put fuel in it, insure it and tax it. It's my only vice, and would gladly give up beer to put fuel in the tank.
None of this winter wheels malarky either, didn't spend a fortune on wheels to drive round on the cruddy 16's it came with.
I'll be driving it roof down throughout the year, unless it's raining!

A Zed is for life not just for summer.
Winter is just as good as summer (If Not Better).
Great (clear) roads.
Fantastic Winter Scenery.
Great Car.
Why give that all up for six months?
And dont give me that lame ooh my car will get covered in salt and dirt excuse, thats what power washers are for
Get it driven..

Yep, that's right, flashing big wheels is far more important than being able to brake with 16" wheels with a proper set of snowtyres... erhhh NOT!!!!
Even though I don't use the Zed much it the winter (hope I don't have to, since I have another car) )I bought a set of 16" BMW alloys with Nokian snowtyres last winter - and I've always wondered why people don't want to buy snowtyres - obviously they don't care about their own or other people's lives... and I find that so selfish and stupid!
Even though you drive carefully you can't brake as you should with big wheels - and keeping up apperances must be everything for some people...

Sorry Ferdinand,
I may have confused with my wording. I don't mean winter tread tyres, I mean wheels put on to save your bling wheels. nothing to do with better traction
I have a mini cooper for when the weather gets too extreme for the the zed. Not messing around with rear wheel drive in snow like last winter... Safety first always with me...
Hope that makes more sense!?
Gary.

Far too much rear wheel drive fun to be had over the winter months. I've never been one for taking my car off the road for bad weather. Where does it end, next we'll be removing our testicles and putting them in a jar over the winter months!!!
My attitude might change when the road salt turns the floorpan to rust.

I bet for most on here the Zed is their only daily driver so why would they Sorn the car?
For others the Zed is a second hobby car and not their main mode of transport. For me I just don't see the point in driving it on salty roads etc during the winter months when you don't need too. No matter how well you look after a car, winter will take its toll on the chassis etc.
I just enjoy the Zed during the summer months like its meant to be enjoyed
Que the.....I've cracked my rear screen threads over the coming months

Mine is just a toy, well, I'd be a bit lazy if it were my daily driver. I can see my workplace from where I live.
I was going to ask how the rear screens hold up to the cold. I think my question has just been answered. Good info, cheers TimQue the.....I've cracked my rear screen threads over the coming months

No sorn for me, its my every day driver, on with the hard top, couple of sacks of gravel in the boot , and away we go.
but i do have a 1968 fully restored classic mini cooper s that will be going on sorn, it has an agreed value of £10,500, it will be connected to a ctek charger, and wrapped up nice and warm, and will get all the pampering it desires.

A new screen would probably hold up better than an old one which over time becomes brittle, however anything below 5 deg C runs the risk. Leaving the heater on to warm the car up first or parking in the sun will help reduce the riskpeteslag wrote:Mine is just a toy, well, I'd be a bit lazy if it were my daily driver. Not sorned mine but but got a cover to give it some extra protection this winter and bought a runabout.

Sorn??? That's just for motorbikes isn't it. My Z has seen seen 10 winters so far and this year will be no different. The underside is still in good nick but the panels have quite a few stone chips and the odd minor blemish, but that's why i paid good money for a quality motor, to be able to enjoy it all year round. I do get the occasional strange look on a cold grey winters day when i'm doing my own thing with the top down , wrapped up warm with the heater blasting away and some tunes on the stereo, and the wife blatantly refuses to play along so it's strictly me all alone as Billy-no-mates, but wtf, I'm happy in my own little world. Maybe i should change my car, or get a girlfriend!
ps. I fell victim to broken rear screen syndrome last January on the way home from work when the temptation to drop the roof overcame my fear of cracking the screen, but what the heck, nobody died and a replacement was under £70 so if it happens again this year I'm not going to cry about it.
